Hi all. I started building my HMS Victory model last year and its been a slow progress. I've only just fitted the middle gun deck so I will soon start on the hardest part, planking the hull that is.
So I've barely gone past issue 19 of the building process. I've been collecting all the issues so far, all components ready to be applied but its not easy keeping tabs all the time. I go to work full time, spend time with my wife & I'm usually tired most weekends.
Neverless I'm determined to build my model to the very end however long it takes even its just a bit here & there each time every other opportunity. I'm building it simply because the HMS Victory is a beautiful ship, steeped in history & its detail so flawlessly crafted.
So chaps, how far have you got to during your builds?

I second MWG. Modelling is not done for a salary but rather for pure pleasure but we still have to eat so therefore we need to work.
I only started with cutting the first row of gun ports. So keep it in there. Do every little bt at your own speed. Forget what is going on around you and enjoy it. The greatest pleasure will be when you stand back and look at your very own masterpiece done with your own hands.
Good luck Gerrit

Hi and welcome. Don't let anyone rush you, it's not a race. I started in November and am only at issue 21 so dont feel bad. Take your time and enjoy it. So far it has been worth it for me. Plenty of tips and advise from the experts and beginners alike. Same here guys! The fact that the summer is upon us does not help as i'm spending most my weekends with my 3 year old out and about! The wife is just about to pop with baby number 2 (due date yesterday), so I don't think i'll be revisiting my build until later in the year. Think i'm on or around issue 40 (nearly finished planking the hull). My last attempt on building some of the cannons resulted in me putting a micro drill through my hand! lol. Wife wasn't too impressed as i ruined the cream carpet in the living room. (watching The apprentice while drilling wasn't a particularly good idea...).

Looks like a few of us are around the same position. I am also just past the point of fitting the middle deck. Like Malcolm I am also doing the Endeavour (not the deagostini one). Finding the time is a little difficult at the moment now the caravaning season is well on the way. The wife keeps arranging sites to visit. I want to get on with the victory but I have no intention of messing it up by rushing it. If it ain't broke, don't fix itVictory Build Log http://modelshipworld.co...p?t=12467&highlight=

Go at your own pace! I've only just started on planking the lower hull, and have stupidly rushed part of it resulting in a broken blade, funny looking plank and an irate amipal.

My build has got as far as being collected from Issue 1 (2 of for extra cannon) and stored carefully in two drawers until wifey tells me I can find time between her, nipper and ship. In my head the Victory looks a peach - she will be admired from a yon distant cliff. The build will be smooth and faultless and Lord Horatio would have been proud...

I am sure the finished product will be as good as the one in your head. Malcolm Only got room for one build, but might try and sneek in a small one later Have snuck in the Endevour

I don’t think it’s a race to the finish. Rather enjoy the build at your own pace and see a perfect end result. Albatross, build in 1982 from plans. Hms Bounty, build in 1987 from plans. Duyfken, build in 1991 from plans Oosterland, build in 1998 from plans 2010 Hms Victory kit from Deagostini
