This Build will be starting soon as my Ark Royal draws to a close.
I am going to tackle this differently to the other classic builds I have done where I have just done a straight box build and not worried to much about it.
I actually really like this kit, its not at all bad. so will build this much like my chiitty build and aim to get the best out of the kit.

Nice one Jase. I remember building this many many moons ago and seem to remember it built into quite a nice model.

Hi all, thanks for looking in. Yes there are auite few parts, as is made in the old harder plastic many have snapped off, but no damage, everything was in its original bag so I know it is all there. No doubt i will make some modifications, but not looked at it in detail yet. Expect to finish Ark royal this week so kick of next week ish Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Looking forward to this I still remember painting the crew in their dark navy blue uniforms and shiny gold helmets and massive moustaches. Maybe you could scratch build the ladders in real wood Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

interesting idea with the ladders. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

The build starts with the engine block. due to the age of the kit the plastic is that really hard stuff from the 50s and early 60s so needs a bit more effort on the seam cleaning. With the two part block done the manifold was added followed by the from plate that mounts the fan belt.
the fan belt looked very thick, my first thought was to cut it away and replace with wire, then I remembered I had some etch fan belt parts left from my Hanomag so scratched a whole new fan belt assembly.
the engine block was then mounted on the chassis after a lot of seam removing and some sink filling. along with some other housings and the exhaust system.
loving this kit already
