Hi there this question about marking and cutting out the first set of gun port holes I would like to know should I wait till the whole ship is ready for sanding and filling or can I sand the 12 planks to make it easy to mark the port hole for cutting out or is ok the mark them as is uneven then sand and fill the nicks and dents when the all planks done thank you Ronald

Ronald, You need to do them before you sand as there are some side and top supports to fit as well. You can cut them out a row at a time or wait, it's up to you but the unsanded finish should be fine to work with.
This wood is so very light you will always need to be careful about over sanding, so wait until all the planking is finished.

Hi Ronald, I would recommend you follow the instructions and sand the hull when instructed to do so. Marking out the gun port positions on the hull prior to sanding shouldn't present you with any problems.....
Regards
Alan
