@ saintsman123: I hope you took my last post as what it was ment to be... just a little joke. Sorry if it went the wrong way.

##########################

The fun has started:

The first planks:

My super-duper-high-tech-sophisticated-plank-soaking-device

After the first little disaster with my gunport-frames I switched back to the magazines way:

The first line of gunports.

And here is propably the biggest beginner mistake:
I did not chamfer the TOP of the rips, just the lower parts.
Thats the bill I got for that:

Milady's big behind ;-)

Still stuck in the middle of #issue 24, so still a loooooooooooooooooooong way to go.

Cheers, Timm

Hi Timm! Cool

Glad to see that you have sorted the way you will do your gun ports, it looks good, neat work! You will find that she takes shape quickly now that the planking is underway.

Enjoy your build Timm ThumpUp

Keine problem

80% of the German I learned was spoken, so writing, especially grammar and spelling can create a few problems. As far as spoken German goes the more I drink the more fluent I become, and as mein Schwager komst aus Bayern, I develop a Bavarian accent.BigGrin

A few days off gave me time to get on with my build.
Meanwhile the upper hull planking is complete.
Keep in mind that I will do the final intense sanding
when the whole hull is done,
thats why it still looks a bit messy.

issue #25:

issue #26:

issue #27:

This is what happens when you build BEFORE reading.Blushing
Cursing Cursing Cursing Read the f.. manual first !!!Cursing Cursing Cursing
I did not measure the gunports correctly, but
I realized after 7 out of 15 wholes were already cut.
To fix that I first glued a little leftover plank from the launch on the back of that part
that needs to be cut, extended the whole to one side, glued the cutout part on the other side and stabilized it from the back with a leftover plank.
Some filling paste and sanding paper may hide most of this mess.

Hi Timm! Cool

We can all make a mistake or two (SEVEN Crying ) don't worry you fixed it! BigGrin and before you've started to paint that would have been bad to find out then. Put it behind you and this time read the book twice before cutting.

The ship is coming on nice and I think you’re having fun doing it! Enjoy the lower planking mate! Laugh

Hello shipmates,

Sorry that long delay but work kept me quite busy this spring.
But I was finally able to finish the hull (pictures will follow soon)
Yippieyayeah !!!!!!!!!!!
So here is what I did so far.

issue #33:

What works for curly hair, can't be that bad for planks ;-)
But after the hull is finished, this hair straightener will be too.

I fixed the bended edges with superglue instead of PVA.
Worked perfect for me.

issue #34:

Made a 9x9 mm dummy out of leftover planks to check the correct size of the gunport and fix the frame while glue was drying.

issue #36:

drop planks

Like magie suggested here I made pointed drop planks.

issue #38:

Unbelieveable, issue #38 took me more than 20 hours to finish.
Almost done, can't wait to finally start sanding !!!!!

Hi Timm! Cool

You can't beat the feeling you get when the hull gets its last plank on the bottom. LOL LOL LOL

At long last it's time to sand the hull smooth, then sit back and say "I DID THAT!" BigGrin Nice work Timm! ThumpUp
