hi i have rescued a barely started model of the hms victory from going to the rubbish tip and would very much like to finish her off, she is built up until issue 20 and i have all of the parts from then up until issue 100 and will buy the remaining issues at a later date, i have heard that there are 2 different versions of this build and im not sure which version i have and therefore don know which instructions to follow, is there any kind of tell tale sign to know which i have?, thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome Jayson, Im not 100% on this so will let Gandale answer properly.

From what i gather though the kit is how you decide to finish it thats the difference.

You can either paint it or leave it in natural wood and varnish. Plus there is the option of a cut away hull showing the deck levels inside or the standard planking the hull completely like a normal kit.

On the bench

1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Hi Jayson and welcome to the forum, great to have you with us. Hope you decide to create a build diary with some pics of your work, it is a great way for us to render any assistance on any problems you may encounter with your build...

I am going to assume you also have the magazines, each one covers a complete build stage of your Victory. The build instructions will ask you to make key decisions as you progress, on how you wish your build to look, for instance, whether you wish to build with or without the section cut out, whether you wish to paint the model or leave it as natural wood, whether you wish to show the build as fully rigged or just with standing rigging.

I would suggest you read through the online PDF's of the complete build, by doing this you can decide beforehand which version of the ship you wish to complete. You can find the PDF's here:

https://www.model-space....s-victory-full-kit.html

In addition to all this you may also like to consider whether you wish to have the hull covered with copper tiles, these are available to order here:

https://www.model-space....e-pack-hms-victory.html

Should you decide to go with a painted version then there is also a paint set available:

https://www.model-space....nt-set-hms-victory.html

Lastly, there is also a very nice display stand available:

https://www.model-space....-stand-hms-victory.html

Hope you find this info useful. Should you require any further info then just ask. You have come to the right place with lots of experienced modellers here who are only too willing to assist if needed. Good luck with your project, hope we get to see your work real soon....Cool Cool

Regards

Alan

thank you everyone for you kind replies, i have decided to do the full build without the cut away and at the moment im not too sure if i want to paint it or not as im not very good at painting, i do prefer the painted look and i keep telling myself that im not going to get any better at painting if i dont try but i dont want to destroy a beautiful ship,as for the copper tiles im no too sure yet either but i think that will be a case of getting on with the build and deciding from there before i put the rudder on, unfortunately i dont have the magazines but i am currently working my way through the pdf's available on the deagostini website and from what i can see these instructions are more than adequate for the build, im currently midway through pack 6. i will definately put up some photos of the build as i progress through (although this is likely to take me a very long time to do as i have a busy life and im not the most well off person to be able to go out and buy materials there and then) and im sure i will need help along the way as like i said this is my first ship build. i seen in the faq's on the deagostini site that someone had partly collected an older version of this ship and was asking if they could just continue from where they left off by buying the issues of the new build and deagostini replied saying that they couldnt as the parts wouldnt fit, i just dont want to get midway through the build and find out that all my hard work has just destroyed such an amazing project because ive been following the wron instructions, thanks again for your time while helping me.

There is no such thing as an older version of the DeAgostini Victory kit, only the current version has ever been produced/sold by DeAgostini.
