Is the reference line drawn in step 18 of issue 35 the line of the 3rd gun deck?
I have temporarily installed sections of the gun deck to check this line location. When I compare internal and external dimensions they vary. Should I draw a new line so that the gun ports will have the correct relationship to the deck.
Hi Martyn, thanks for the quick response, I have taken measurements at each rib frame inside the hull from the top of the deck to the top of the hull (which I have not yet trimmed due to the same problem) then measured from the top of the hull to the reference line on the outside. The reference line on the hull appears to be 2-3mm lower than the deck which obviously will place the gun ports too close to the deck and also affect top of the hull height.
I think the answer is to draw another line using the deck as a reference so that the bottom of the gun ports are 5mm above the deck. I haven't worked out how to insert the photos yet😡😡

Hi Dodger, this link should help you with posting pics up of your build. Make sure your pics are no larger than 650x480 pixels, 150kb and saved as a JPG, not a JPEG. https://forum.model-spac....aspx?g=posts&t=244
Think we really need to see some pics of your build to see what the problem is you're facing. The drawing of the line in another place is not the answer, I would say you stick to the instructions by using the measurements provided. The first line you draw is your reference line from which all other measurements will be taken. If you simply move the line to accommodate the guns then you'll likely run into other problems further down the line especially when it comes to fitting the decorations and ornamentation to the side of the hull, some of which are rather tight for space. Are you absolutely sure your decks are fully seated and secured to the gun supports? Regards Alan

Hi Gandale and Martyn Thanks for the response,Ithink I've sorted the problem. I began marking the ports on the port side and did not have any problems, soI again checked the starboard side and found that my datum line (second deck) was too low in the centre due to a large area of fill.I then measured the strake width to establish the new line and everything looks fine. Still trying to edit pics to send

Great to hear you have it all sorted out now and can continue with your build. Hope it goes well for you from here going forward... Regards Alan
