Hi Johnny
Thnaks for the comment and i used a cheap satin walnut wwostain from Wilcos then put the same make of matt clear varnish on top.

I was going to go and get a differnt colour but as i had it allready, tried it and liked the look.

Thanks for the nice comments lads, much appreciated.

Have started on the guns now and finding it really fiddly but having a go any way.

Here are all the gratings done, not finished yet as goining to paint them, so they are not stuck down yet.

So i have started on the gun riggin.

Whish for me is giving me problems with bad fingers and small parts but think im gettin there.

HOWEVER.
I have a question for those who have gone past this far. When preparing the gun tackle, Issue 49 stage 13, it says "Cut a 50mm length of cord and feed through the wire loop".
Now as there are 2 thickness of cord suplied, WHICH one do i use for this stage as it does not state it in the mag.

Agin your help is appreciated.

And by the way. For those of you that have yet to rech this stage of the build. If you are like me and a bit heavy handed get your self a few of the smaller drill bits as i have gone through 4 x 0.5mm drill bits just putting the homes in the guns.

Happy building

Hi Foz! Cool

Stage 13 you use the thin rope 50mm long for this step, the breech rope is made using the thicker rope.

Hello again Foz! Cool

Intended to say about holding the blocks when you find it hard to hold small things, take a look at the link below it shows how I manage to hold the blocks while I tie them with bad eye sight, it also helps with bad fingers.

It might be of help to you mate.

Cheers Darron.

I did try your way to do the gun rigging and still found it fairly difficult.

Well i should not be posting now but my CO has granted me some compasionate leave due to both parents ill in hospital.

So in between visiting and sorting out social services ive carried on with the build and found the gun rigging one of the most difficult parts so far for me but have now just finished issue 49 and have the dummy gum beams painted ready to install before adding the guns.

I have used longer lengths of cord so i can handle them and will cut them down when i have the guns in place.

Anyway thats were im up to but have a quick question regarding installing the guns.

It says to super glue the guns to the deck, so why are we also putting pins through the guns in to the deck?

I have looked at pics of the real guns and cant see anything there that these pics would represent so am leaving them of but just wondering why?

regards

Foz

Upper gun deck now finished and the start of the gratings, which i found extremly fiddly to do.

Another slight hic cup though, dont know weather deck is to high or the gun ports cut wrong but trying the guns in place just to have a look found the barrels hittin the top of the gun ports. Sure ill be able to sort it out though.

Well time to leave the old girl for a bit and go hospital visiting.

Happy buildings folks

Foz

Hi Fozy,
Re the barrels fouling the top of the gun port you can do what karl suggests and file a little of the front wheels or very slightly build up the rear carriage support which will lower the barrel.A combination of both methods keeps the barrel fairly level, you just have to have a play to see which option you prefere.
Hope this helps.
Happy building CMBBigGrin

I too found this part of the build tricky Foz, particullarly attaching the breach rope to the rings on the frames, I cursed a few times I can tell you, but got there in the end. Percy Vere is the name of the game Laugh Laugh Laugh

Thnaks for that, You know i had not enevn thought of making the rear of the gun slightley higher, will see what i can do with that tomorrow but am thinking it would take the wheels of the deck.

In the mean time i have benn painting the gratings ready to put those on.

have done all the outsides black and the inside a wlnut brown. i did get some metal blackner for the cannon ball but then though i would not see them against the blac wood so left them as they came and will let you see what you think.

The slight glare is the matt vrnish still wet.
