OK, I can see where you are now.
All the builds will start to vary from this point on so there can be no formulae as such, just guidelines. The goal will be to have the planks parallel to the bow by the time you get to the top of the forward bow section. You should be 4 or 5 planks away from that at plank 7.
Use you judgement to decide on a plank by plank basis. If you don't taper and it looks like it is starting to go high at the bow, then taper the next layer.

ok thanks John basically I'm getting ready to add the last bow plank for #7 it has been tapered but not bent yet to fit the bow will be doing planks 8 & 9 next that is why I was confused when the instructions only mentioned only plank 9 that does not need tapering and not 8 either Ronald

Be careful not to confuse the bow tapering with the stern tapering.

Hi Ronald,
To avoid confusion as to where you are in your build you need to refer to the point in the build instructions by Stage Number and Step number rather than by page number, such as Stage 24, Step 4. This is where I believe you are at in you build. The booklets supplied with each pack, both in the UK and US are exactly the same but the PDF page numbers are different and it is the PDF's I tend to work from.
I would also ask you to maintain a build diary showing pics of your build as you progress. This would also help avoid confusion, as we can then see exactly where you are at and what may also be causing you the problem. It avoids us having to try and answer questions blind, answering questions blind is actually a very difficult thing to do. Your build diary is also the place to ask any questions, it keeps everything in the one place rather than creating multiple topics on the forum all relating to your build. If you are not prepared to maintain a diary then you may find the support you are looking for won't meet your expectations.
As for row 8. I am struggling to see why you are having difficulties in planking your build. The instructions are very clear, the Official build, the video build and the links I have provided, gives you all of the information you need on how to go about planking your build. Every build is different, whereas on my build row 8 at the bow may not need tapering but to ensure a much better fit then tapering may be required on your build. When you test fit a plank going round the bow area you need to ensure the full width of the plank sits square on the frames. If you find the plank wants to climb up over the planks already fitted to the bow then the point at which the climb starts is the point where your taper will start. You should never force a plank to go where it doesn't want to go and should sit naturally before gluing in position. Therefore, if row 8 fits square on the frames, neatly against row 7 (without forcing the plank up or down) then no taper is required, otherwise you will need to adjust.
Posting pics up on your diary of how things look really would help us to help resolve your query.
Hope this helps..
Regards
Alan

It certainly does not however, mean I am available 24/7 to render an immediate response to you or any other member as I also have a life outside of the forum. In addition, there are other members and forum tasks that require my attention so it simply comes down to prioritisation of issues. I will where possible, answer your queries but it will be at a time when I'm available to do so. It also appears to me you are so very willing to request assistance and use the facilities of the forum but yet do nothing to support the forum by supporting other members builds, contribute to discussions or simply posting up progress of your build. If you want more from the forum then how about contributing to the forum, after all the forum can only remain successful through the activity and contributions of its members. Regards Alan

I’m sorry to have offended you by not offering help to anyone on this forum or by putting pictures of my build for I am only a novice builder and my work is not worthy of showing off except to get help which is why I am here, so until I am a perfect builder like your self I have no other option but to ask for help from members who are willing to help a novice ship builder., don’t worry I will not ask for your help anymore will ask other members instead the ones who will not mind helping me with my build, I enjoyed getting your help in the past and appreciated it, you were a great help then and a top notch ship builder Ronald

Ronald - your last post shows that you didn`t understand at all, what Alan meant.
I think you offended him less by not posting your own build diary - but more with your agressive undertone (if that is an english word?).
You can`t post a question at 3 p.m. without any pics showing your problem - then complain about Alan not answering 3 hours later. Then he posts a very detailed answer - and you tell him his help isn`t needed any more.
You can´t expect anyone to help you - treating him that way.
As Alan wrote, the usual way in this forum is to post your own building log, posting pics - rather then opening mutiple threads on every other plank you have to attach. And then - when really needed - you can ask questions in your own diary.
And if it takes two days till anyone answers - well then you will have to wait.
Also i think all your previous questions could have been solved by simply reading the various diaries available and maybe a little try-and-error (i say this as a first-time builder as well - who also often didn`t know how to move on at first glance!)
So post your own diary - even if you think it`s not worth showing off - i`m sure no one will be mocking you - but rather try to help you in any way possible!Greetings, Walter

Ronald, instead of littering build discussion with almost daily questions about your build, you need to start a build diary which you can post the questions into and that they are all in one place. You also need to realise that without being able to see what you are doing, it’s often difficult to comment and you can’t expect Alan or anyone to resolve your questions without being able to see your build.
Also, posting duplicate questions just because you have not had response is not the way forward, duplicate posts will be removed.
You’ve been given sound help and guidance almost on a step by step basis but need to realise that Alan has a personal life to lead and does not operate in a beckoned call manner and will respond when he is able, also his reply to you and that of DaDokta, are of sound reasoning.
I look forward to seeing your build diary
