The next step was to add a mast support that fits underneath the base. I cut a small section from 3.0mm diameter aluminium tube, 2.0mm internal diameter, slid it along the brass rod and glued in place, knowing that it would be central and remain fixed once the brass rod was removed. The next very fiddly stage was to make the 16 dipoles that are fitted to the wire mesh. I used 0.5mm diameter brass rod for this job. The attached photo shows the first one bent to shape. The next phase was to make the 8 brackets that housed two dipoles each. Each bracket was made from 2.0mm wide x 0.5mm thick plastic strip. I had to make a few of these to allow for mistakes, as each piece measured 3.0mm long with two 0.5mm diameter holes drilled through each piece to except the dipoles. Patience required here!
