To strengthen i cut two small lengths of 1.0mm diameter aluminium tube, 0.5mm inner diameter and slid these sleeves along the 0.5mm diameter brass rods of each receptor. These aluminium sleeves were then butted up against the paddles and fixed with a little glue. I can't fit the radar mast until I've made some changes to the conning tower itself. So for a change of palette from small, tiny and fiddly, it's time to get heavy, get hardcore and break out the razor saw and mini grinder. At this point my research and ponderings would be put to the test!  The attached photo shows the cowling; cut up and ready for fitting! Time to get stuck in with the razor saw and mini grinder! I have to remove these sections to then rebuild them with a different profile to suit the radar housing and the armoured boxes which I will explain more about next week. Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. This week I started to build up the housing for the FuMO-30 radar mast. Progress has been slow due to the constant referencing of the only photo i have of U230's conning tower to ensure it 'looked right' as it differs slightly from the profile of my 1/72 scale donor model. After plenty of measuring and double checking i added a section to the cut out, as seen in the attached photo, which forms the inner section of the radar mast housing. Made of 0.5mm plastic sheet, it was at this stage, with no supports very flimsy, being held in place with a few spots of glue.
