A while since my last update as I've been up to my ears with other stuff. The engine is coming along now. All the wiring and injection lines are fitted, using heat shrink as a way of bunching stuff together. Much neater and far better looking. Fittings made and added to the oil cooler at the back, and two oil lines added that are missing from the kit. LOTS more still to add... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks chaps. The exhausts are now fitted - a regular bunch of bananas. Fortunately, all of the parts are a nice tight push fit so it was all assembled with no glue to make sure it all fitted. Nice and easy to adjust the various parts. Once I knew it was all ok, the parts were treated to a dot of cyano at the joints, sprayed matt white and then fitted to the engine. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

I forgot to mention previously: I had to scratch make the missing heat sink over the ignition and fuel pump systems... Why Tamiya left it out - who knows? roymattblack attached the following image(s):

The engine is in and the suspension parts are all sorted. As is quite normal for Tamiya, almost everything goes together really well. Brake pipes have been added as well as wiring to the gearbox and a few other oil lines. Still a lot of extras to add to the engine though. The decals are all on - the red circle did indeed need LOTS of Microsol and Microset. I've clear coated the body with Johnsons Klear as it gives a nice soft gloss - not 'toffee apple' like modern cars. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks for looking in you chaps. Heading on the home stretch now. The wheels have been repainted graphite grey - the kit wheels are chrome which is wrong for this car. Tyre lettering painted - fiddly but turned out ok. The kit engine is missing all the oil lines and the valve on one side of the car. Heaven knows why as it's very prominent. It was all scratched together and fitted using heat shrink as ties on the hoses. Still a few more additions needed on the engine before I can call it complete. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

I think this one is pretty much done now. I've added the missing oil pipes to the top of the engine. They are supposed to be steel but I liked them in copper - a bit of colour contrast. Getting them bent to shape and fitted in was a - ahem - 'challenge'... Also added is the valve actuating wire, another missing part. All in all, a very enjoyable build considering it's such an ancient kit. Many thanks to those who looked in and commented. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):
