Thanks guys. A bit more on the little van. Body has been given a couple of primer coats, and now has grey and a bit of cream. Apparently when new, these things were available in a whole host of colours... Grey or pale green. I've based my build on the assumption that Guinness bought them in grey and then had the black and cream parts painted. Hence the interior and underneath is still grey. Lots more to do, over-spray to cover, black to add as well as lots of dirt and rust... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks Ken. I've now got the basic black and cream in place but there's a lot of over-spray and touching up still to do. Beginning to look interesting... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

The engine is now fitted and I've started to add some weathering underneath. A wash of white spirit/matt earth first, then a further darker wash in the recesses, followed by a mist of dark matt red-brown, and a final mist of matt black. There still needs to be lines and patches of rust added using a fine brush. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Hello Ken. It's fun, even if it is a horrible kit. Some detail weathering added using matt red and brown, white spirit and a fine brush plus liberal use of cotton buds and finger tips to smudge it a bit. A few panels to add to the body, then the decals, and further weathering... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Well, I'm moving on with the little van. I was going to add decals but I realized there's still more bodywork to do, and when the decals are on, they will need to be weathered down as well so they are still to come. A few 'alterations'... The kit as built will completely hide all of the engine and radiator making any paintwork, detail or even putting any of it in place in the first place, pointless. Therefore, I decided to make the entire cab front removable. Not prototypical, but why paint or even add engine bits etc if they are never, ever even visible? Also - the fit of the roof is horrendous!!! I had to glue and hold the rear end first, then 'twist' the roof into place and fix with cyano. Some dirt and rust added... Getting grubbier by the day. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Creeping forwards... The wheels are assembled and fitted but the tyres still need weathering down a bit. Cab front built and painted but it won't be glued on as I want it to be removable to see the cab and engine. Bumpers on - rear one needs weathering. Still doors to sort, lots of little detail parts, the decals, then final weathering and clear coat... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Well, the little rusty van is almost done. A few details to add, a touch more weathering over the decals and a final satin clear coat. The amount of 'grot' on this little van is actually taken from reference of a real old Guinness van somewhere in Gran Canaria, at an Irish theme bar. Yes, it REALLY is that bad! A fun little build of a horrible, horrible kit. What can I say? Buy one. It has so much scope. roymattblack attached the following image(s):
