IMPA wood putty. White or pine match pretty well and rubs down nicely.

Hi Andrea, I use different filler for different bits. It all depends on what you're doing? If you are filling in hull planks with gaps then I mix the sawdust/ sanding dust from the planks mixed with pva, that way you have the same shade. If it's again on the planking but on the first layer then standard fine wood filler will do, I use car body Stopper as it sets hard and smooth and is easily sanded smooth. General wood filler will do in all situations but will stand out as its white, mix a little wood dye the correct shading to it and then it will work ok. Smaller items I use Squadron Green putty. Then paint over it. Hope this helps Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

hello every one. I found a way to make my home made filler and use it as putty. put some PVA or wood glue in a gar top. just add talcum powder till its like putty . to make a wood dye simple. boil some water then put some in a jam jar. add about 7 table spoons full of instant coffee. try some out on a bit of wood. if you want it darker give it a second coat or add more coffee.
some thing else I got off the internet. I could not find matt varnish. there is no such thing as matt varnish. but you add some talcum powder to it. apparently when they make gloss paints they add talcum powder to make it a matt colour. hope this helps you

Gordon And another good way of making a filler that matches the wood you are using as close as it can is to use some of the sanding dust from your model mixed with a little glue and that dries out to a near perfect match to the wood you have been using. Good tips there and anything that saves mobey has to be a good thing Happy Modelling

Not for use on the hull, but any gaps that are irregular or you need to sand into a shape afte then you cannot beet milliput. Omes in several colours. For hull filling when painting the hull a fine white filler is good so hou can see it against the wood when sanding If you need to fill the same colour then, as others have said pva with saw dust from the same wood works a treat Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

hello there Jasa the PVA glue you mention in the post would it be the white glue like elma's glue if I am unable to get the right PVA glue locally thank you Ronald

Hi Ronald White wood glue or PVA are the same thing, white wood glue being the everyday discription and PVA being the technical description the Elma's glue you mention will work perfectly for adding sanding dust to it to make a filler paste.
