Hi Shipmates,
I have been struggling to get the correct stern frame (pt 31). After 2 re-issues I still did not get the correct part, so instead of just quitting the model, I decided to make one myself from my doubles. It did not look to bad, and I have the stern reinforcements on it. I just want to know something, do they form a slight curve up to the middle?
Kind regards, Francois

Hi Francois Make sure your frame 30 is in the correct place and ALL the way down in the slot, so that all deck supports are in one line. Otherwise you will end up like me. http://forum.model-space...s&m=29313#post29313

Hi Timm and Mr T Looks as if I have made the same mistake, see photo (I cannot have pushed the frame home properly.) I intend to cut out the shaded area to bring the frame to the correct hight.Glue the two halfs together, with a doubler inside the model body to strenghen the joint. Any other ideas or sugestions would be welcome if anybody can come up with an easier solution. Thanks for the post which came in time before I got too far into the build First Build HMS Victory and HMS Endeavour Also Krick steam boat "Victoria" Cheers Ivan (Ordinary Seaman) http://www.old-glossop.com

Francois, I also made my own part 31 and also have a slight concave bend towards the stern of the ship (maybe 1 mm)

Hi shipmates! In Deepseacodmaster post about this problem. Deepseacodmaster wrote:Any other ideas or sugestions would be welcome if anybody can come up with an easier solution. I think you have come up with the best method for you thanks to you spotting it before are have planked over that area. There is only one way that can solve the problem easier and that is to check the ribs has gone down to the correct point in the first place, I'm not being funny! REALLY I'M NOT!. The glue can stop the ribs fitting all the way down, it's not your fault it just happens, it happened to me on the same rib only I check my lines and they didn't match so quickly pull the rib out washed the glue off, then sanded the slot wider. A tip to anyone about to fit the ribs to the keel mark the ribs and keel across the end of the slots on both parts so you know were the slot ends as you fit the rib. If the line on the rib almost touches the line on the keel then you’re at right point, it's that simple and will save you a lot of trouble later.

Looks drastic, but once she's planked up the fix will be hidden, well done!

Thanks everybody for the kind remarks about my problem solving. I think I might start an "Ivans build mistakes and problem solving" topic. It might stop other new builders from making the same mistakes First Build HMS Victory and HMS Endeavour Also Krick steam boat "Victoria" Cheers Ivan (Ordinary Seaman) http://www.old-glossop.com
