gregarding the breach ropes, i have only installed 1 gun so far and found adding the ring to the rope and attaching it to the eye bolt on the walls was a night mare, and not looking forward to installing the other 9 guns, but as you say, ill perse vera and get there if my nead is in the right place.

gun ropes i found it easer to rig the guns out of the ship then atatch the brass eyelits when completed to the ship side after wards just as you said keep the blocks ropes longer and adjust when fixed down

Hi Foz!  I would agree with willie fitting all the rings, ropes and eyes before gluing the cannon in place then fitting the eyes to the bulwarks is much easier. Hold all the ropes and bits on top of the cannon as you glue it down don't do what I did on one cannon and have one rope go underneath.  That was a job to correct I can tell you!.

That was a job to correct I can tell you!. i know what you mean i did the same we lern the hard way thats why i waited till all the ropes were fitted then pin and glued

I was thinking? As I am doing my build of Victory just prior to going into battle, fully rigged (including, flying the famous England Expects flags) what gun tackle would be in use? Would the long rope travelling between all the thimles be in place...any thoughts shipmates???

I for one have no idea what gun tackle would be used. Im just going for the way the mag says and hope it looks ok after she built.

Well have finally got the guns in place and the gratings finished. As im still waiting for the varnish to dry to hold the cannon balls in place i have not glued the gratings down yet. So on with the rudder, which dont make sense to me after doing all that work on the deck and now we have to turn the build over.   Happy building folks Regards Foz

Hi Foz! It is a fiddly job fitting those cannons there is never a 3 year old around when you need one, you need little fingers at this scale. Well if you don't think it make sense now turning the ship over then how will you feel later in the build when you have to do it again to put the finish onto the lower hull and then we will have to turn it over again to fit the underside of the gallery trims. At the same time we will have the masts and yards to protect. Things are a little out of build order but that’s part works for you! P.S. How many cannon balls will fall out of the grates with all this turning over?

They certainly will fall out in any event if they have not been set in place as described in the instructions

Darren. Ill agree, you need a 3 year old little fingers for these jobs but dont think the builds would looik half as good if that age group helped.  As for the cannon ball. Well i tried turning the grates over and some fell out so lots mor varnish to keep them in place before glueing them down. Just tried them and i not lost a cannon ball this time so its worked. Time now to stick the gratings on and finish the rudder. Hopefully will post pics later and hope i aint got to turn her upside down with masts on as i will be in trouble then.

Back again. Now have the rudder attached.   So on to the rest of the build now with the ship the right way up. Happy building folks. Foz

Well got a wee bit more done and now have finished the upper gun deck and can start putting the deck beams in on the quarter deck. The rear ladder was a bit twisted but i can live with that as it wont be fully visable. But time for a break now and something to eat.
