Hi All
This is a 1/16 scale kit of the classic WW1 British fighter made from wood,cast metal and etched metal parts. The kit has everything included including rigging wires, wood strip. wire parts and an acrylic stand with integral nameplate the only extras you will need are paint,glue and the metal wood stencil to reproduce the plywood effect.
The box is made of strong cardboard with pictures of the kit on the front and back with more pictures on the box sides. On lifting the lid you see four blister packs of cast metal parts beneath that wood parts, etch parts, the stand, instruction CD and an A2 poster in the bottom of the box.
The first blister pack contains the fuel/oil tanks and the Vickers guns in the bottom right. The Vickers gun barrels are made up of 3 castings each and the stock and muzzle are separate castings. The second blister pack has engine and cockpit parts if you look at the four castings top right they are the parts that make up the wicker seat. The 3rd blister pack has wing struts and various fuselage fittings. The last blister pack has the cowl and cast metal front fuselage parts.
The etch parts are made from two gauges of steel and are crisp and clean. The wood parts are laser cut and again are crisply cut. The large wooden fret also includes the parts for the jig that is used to keep the build straight and true. The other wood parts are ribs and other wing parts along with fuselage parts. The propellor is made by laminating the pre cut parts and sanding to shape.
The last things in the box are the bundle of wood strip and wire parts along with the stand that also has the printed dial detail in it. Lastly the instruction CD and poster.

Looks a lovely content 
The Camel had various engine types fitted, the most common for the F.1 being the 130hp Clerget 9B.
Hasegawa did a 1/8 Clerget 9B display engine kit that's now rare but can still be found on the net.

I managed to have a good look inside the box of this kit at the Telford model show on Saturday.
I was particually interested as I recently built the 1/16th scale version that Model Airways make and I wanted to see how they compared.
I honestly believe that this version is superior to the MA one in so many ways. The quality and finish of the parts is excellent with lots more detail. I also liked how the prop was made up in shaped layers rather than the 3 solid blocks which needed a lot of work. I spent a lot of time of that part and had to remake it twice to get something that I was happy with.
I am very happy with the outcome of my Model Airways Camel but I really wish that I have waited for this version, which to add insult to injury, is considerably cheeper than I paid.
Hindsight is a wonderful gift.
