Issue 86

Contents: Side brackets (x 2),Right-hand bulkhead bracket,Left-hand bulkhead bracket,Left-hand hubcap,Right-hand hubcaps (x 2),Screws

Identify the left and right hubcaps by comparing them with the first of the left hubcaps, which was supplied with Issue 1.Take the front subframe assembly and one of the right hubcaps, fitting the hubcap over the central screw holding the right front wheel in place. Now fit a left hubcap to the other front wheel in the same way. You can also add the other two hubcaps to the rear wheels if you wish, or leave them until later.

Take the bodyshell from Issue 85, plus the two side brackets and two screws. The brackets are identical, but the long oval holes face inwards and forwards.Fit the left-hand bracket over the mounting lug on the bodyshell. The slot in the side goes over the locating tab to hold it at the correct angle.Screw the bracket to the bodyshell with a screw, repeating this step with the right hand bracket on the opposite side of the bodyshell.Line up the four holes on the right-hand bracket, which has an ‘R’ on the back, with the lugs on the recess on the right of the bulkhead.Having pressed it into place secure it with four screws.Repeat this with the left bracket.

Invert the bodyshell onto a cushion or pad of soft cloth, to protect the paintwork during assembly.Identify the four lugs, which are used to attach the bulkhead. You will also fix it with the two brackets you fitted earlier.
Carefully lower the front subframe onto the bodyshell, lining up all four mounting holes with the lugs before securing them with 4 screws. Now use another screw to fasten the right-hand side bracket to the bulkhead and finally add another screw to secure the left-hand side bracket.

This issue is now complete. Store the assembly and any unused parts in an issue labelled bag.

Issue 88

Contents: Windscreen frame,Windscreen wipers (x 3),Radio aerial,Screws

Align the frame with the opening in the bodyshell and fit the outermost tab on the lower edge into the notch in the bodyshell. Follow this by inserting the second, third and fourth tab along into the bodyshell.Flex the frame gently to open up a gap along the top edge and align the windscreen so you can ease it down behind the frame, being careful not to scratch it as you do so. Once the bottom edge fits between the bodyshell and the frame, start at the outer corner and press the top tabs on the frame into the opening in the bodyshell until all four tabs are fitted into the body.Using a soft cloth to protect the paintwork, invert the body and press the holes in each of the four top tabs over the matching pins on the bodyshell until they are firmly located in place. Then secure the bottom tabs to the holes in the bodyshell with screws, beginning at one corner of the windscreen.Continue fitting screws to the two centre tabs and finally the one at the opposite corner.Take the aerial, which has a keyhole-shaped lug on the back, and fit it into the matching hole in the body.Carefully invert the body and secure the aerial with a screw.Take the first of the windscreen wipers, these also have shaped tabs on the back to ensure that they fit into the holes in the right position.Invert the body, and secure the wiper with a screw.Fit the other two wipers in the same way.

This issue is now complete. Store the assembly and any unused parts in an issue labelled bag.
