I have now completed R2D2 and followed the instructions for activating the battery box so plugging in charger turning on then pressing button 6 on the front, His head turns the front light comes on then he bleeps ready for connection to the app but when I unplug the charger everything goes off! It won't run off the battery box and I'm using genuine sanyo 18650 battery's from Germany don't tell me we all have a battery box issue? I've msged model space and emailed and no reply there's no app and no instructions online if anyone has any info on this to share that would be great 😊

The instructions for activation on page 13, step 12 clearly says to attach the charger switch it on at the mains for a few seconds then to remove the charger from R2-D2 completely before switching him on via the main switch under his base then by pressing the bottom swith of the blue switches on his front panel.
The charger should not be attached to R2-D2 when switching him on for the 1st time.Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Yes I did that first and nothing happened so I then went on to powering him up while plugged in and that worked but when unplugged it goes off and nothing works

Out of interest, should the battery activation sequence be carried out with the master power switch (on the base of r2) turned on of off? Or does this not make a difference? Seeing quite a few on social media having the exact same problems. It sounds like you have electrical connection problems so a check of all your conections should be made on R2. By the way the Guide is now available online. If you click the link below then the build it is ready to download there- https://www.model-space....he-r2-d2.html?clearcacheCurrent builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Seeing quite a few on social media having the exact same problems. The instructions on page 13, step 13 indicate that the base power switch is to be turned on only after completing step 12 where the charger is pluged in and unpluged. So the battery activation is carried out with the base switch in the off position. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

So if someone switches the power on when plugging the charger in where does that leave them? I tried it the correct way first and got nothing that's why I went onto powering him up with the charger

Doesn’t it say to use 2600 mah or lower ?

If R2 will not start up in the way described in the instructions then that indicates a bad connection somewhere. You say in post #4 The other funny thing is button 6 turns him on but won't turn him off and is clearly labeled ON and OFF.That indicates a faulty conection somewhere so you should double check all your connections. R2 started up in the correct way when I did issue 100. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

So the battery activation is carried out with the base switch in the off position. Cool thanks arpurchase. I dont yet have the issue to hand, but have seen images etc. Wanted to be fully clear for when i come to do it myself. It makes me wonder if people have damaged their unit by trying to turn it on with the power still plugged in, or before they have activated it, by not correctly following the instructions. Button 6 is just a button not a switch so pressing ON should have the same affect as pressing it a 2nd time for off if it was a wiring issue the 1st press wouldn't work surely?

The online guide says if you press and hold the bottom button on the front panel it will force a shut down. Try this, it may reset the system so to speak? All 6 of the buttons cover the micro-switch assembly below it so by pressing the button you are activating a micro-swith to its off or on position. Being unable to switch him off indicates a problem somewhere so by checking the conections it eliminates that as being the problem source. Once that problem is eliminated then we can move on to checking other parts. You could also double check the mounting and operation of the switch assembly to the body to eliminate this as well.
