A little more on this one. The front frames have been assembled and are now fitted to the tub. The real car I'm using as reference (Google) has a bare aluminium inner tub so I've sprayed mine ally silver, and I'm metal foiling the areas that will be visible later on. Getting fairly large pieces of BMF down wrinkle-free is a bit challenging but it got there in the end. Much better looking than just paint. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks for peeping in, and the kind words chaps. Time to start adding bits. At the front there should be hydraulic lines to the dampers as well as clutch and brake pipes. I've added what I can see from my reference pics and yes, the damper pipes really are fitted at peculiar angles. Heaven knows why. The 'tee' piece was cast in resin from a mould I made ages ago. It's actually 1/8 scale but hopefully it doesn't look too bad. The actual pipes are made from jewellery wire from a hobby shop... I still need to add the caps to the reservoirs. Some wiring next. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks Kev. I've built up the oil coolers and baffle and fitted it all. First - there should be braided hoses to the two rads so these have been added. The lower hoses go out through the bottom of the car so can't be seen from above. I had to cut access holes in the baffle for the hoses. I also had to widen the baffle by about 0.5mm on each side with plastic strip as it didn't quite fit in its location - too narrow so there were gaps on either side. The tops of the oil coolers had to be sanded flat as for some daft reason, Tamiya decided to have the sprue fixings here! Easily sorted with ally BMF. I also lightly sprayed the cooler faces matt black. The large air pipes as supplied are black. They should be a dull red/brown so they were painted with red oxide car primer. Next, the radiator needed some attention. Tamiya have put both the inlet and outlet pipes at the bottom ends of the rad. Wrong. The outlet pipe should be at the top so I filled the bottom hole and drilled out a new one at the top. I'll have to modify the pipes and hoses later on... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Another update for those following. I've sorted the radiator pipe connection holes and fitted the rad. This later release of the kit includes etch parts. The front and rear faces of the rad are included. TBH - the etch parts are almost pointless as they add absolutely no extra detail that the plastic parts don't already have. However, being polished steel they look nice so - horror to all the purists - I've added them but left them unpainted purely for the added texture/finish effect. I also added a 'Marston' radiator decal. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Looking good Roy and I agree with you, the etched radiator faces do give a nice contrast and look like real metal, which is what they are, so why not use them? It makes perfect sense.
Well done. ![ThumpUp](/images/emoticons/msp_thumbup.gif)

Many thanks for peeping in chaps - and the very kind comments. Not a great deal today - up to the proverbial ear 'ole's with other stuff. Anyhoo - the rad water pipes are sorted and fitted. As I mentioned before, Tamiya has made the kit with both pipes fitted to the bottom of the rad. In any cooling system this would lead to the top of the rad being full of boiling water and the rad not really doing anything. The nearside pipe should be at the top so I blocked off the lower hole and modified the pipe to fit a new hole at the top of the rad. The kit pipe was simply bent to shape and an extension piece added using a piece of correct diameter sprue. The pipes were both ally BMF'd, and the upper parts satin blacked, with hose clips added. All sorted. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks chaps. I've assembled and fitted part of the dash frame and steering wheel now. Also - colour scheme now decided. Technically it isn't 100% correct for this kit but as Tamiya themselves have actually created a T70 that never really existed, a little artistic licence won't hurt. When the time comes I'll print all the decals myself. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):
