Hi folks,

I could use a little help with layers 7, 8 and 9 of the planking. The instructions are quite clear concerning layer 7 and tapering the bow from frame 13 by 1mm and tapering the stern plank by 1mm from frame 24 to the end of the plank.

It does not make it clear though whether rows 8 and 9 are tappered in the same way or just laid on as per the earlier layers.

As a lot of you are way past this part of the build I'm hoping someone can give me a heads up.

Many thanks

Gary

that the start of the tapering of the planks after fitting plank seven the next plank n08 should be tried dry fitted to see if it over rides the next plank if it dose its needs tapering to fit you will probely find from now on you will be tapering most if not all the planks dont forge the drop planks if the taper is more than half way. NB aft planks some do some dont and some leave spaces which can be filled with short planks check with mag to see how if you dont taper you will start to clinker planks not laying right agenst the frames which is quite noticeable

Thanks Willie,

I thought the drop planks were only needed on the lower hull below where the very first plank was laid. I did not know that you have to use them on the upper hull planking as well.

cheers

no Gary you shoundnt need drop planks on the top of the hull i though you were on the bottom but watch out for the 11th plank at the bow at the top you may have to reduce it and add the 12th plank right to bow to get your hight to match the hight at the half round dack at the bow i didnt because mine worked out fine it tells you in the mag
