I have just seen that a copy of Alan's book is up for sale on ebay. It is a must-have reference book for anyone who hopes to build HMS Victory as authentically as possible. HMS VictoryDoesn't come up all that often, looks a bit pricey but that's probably why. I should add, I don't know who is selling it and have no connection with them! Mike T

It's a damn good book, I managed to pick up a copy for £16.95 a several months ago from a book shop in Yarmouth that was closing down...it is quite comprehensive with stacks of interesting facts and figures...along with C Nepean Longridge's book: The Anatomy of Nelson's Ships...with pull out diagrammes, both are a great fantastic for research on this build... Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

Hi,
Thanks for that link. Had a browse for this book & the going price was in the region of £45 most places.
Made the seller an offer an managed to get it for £40. Will be very useful when I eventually start my caldercraft Victory.
Thanks again.
Wilfy

Yes that is definitely one of the best books available for the Victory! And the best way to make things even better, is to buy the book from John McKay about the Victory (from the 'Anatomy of the Ship' series) in addition. The reason, why one should do so, is that McKay is the one who has drawn the plans in both books and they really do interlock with each other. What is missing in one, you can find in the other. By the way... Has any of you scaled the plans in the McGowan and has placed and compared the parts of the kit with the original lines? Sincerely yours, Sir Thomas

Glad you won it Ivan. It is an excellent book and sat £21.00 you got it for a good price, I think I paid a touch over £30 for mine.
The drawings are well worth it for seeing the details of the build.

I have a 'Saved Search' set up on E-bay for McGowan. You could do the same but either way if another HMS Victory comes up, I will try to remember to let you know!
