Hi,
So R2 jumps forwards, rotates head with flashing purple lights then light starts flashing very fast in red and none of the buttons respond. Anyone else having this issue?

Can you provide a link to the batteries you purchased and are using. Can you also double check all of your connections, ensuring they fully seated, the wires have been labelled correctly and that the plugs do not have any bent pins. Regards Alan

There is a troubleshooting guide, see link below. Did you follow the startup sequence, plugging him into using the mains adapter first for a couple of seconds and then unplugging him before you start him up? https://forum.model-space.co.uk/...aspx?g=posts&t=30247

I have double checked all connections and it appears there is now no response when pressing the power button. All batteries are charged.

Hate to say it but you have purchased incorrect batteries as they are noted in the spec as being Flat tops and should be Button tops. Basically your batteries are not making proper contact with the positive terminal in the battery box, hence no power output.

Actually, double checking I have the button top variant. The second ones I linked are my actual ones.

The problem is the buttons supplied by ecolux. The admitted there is a fault with them and refunded most people. They are not making proper contact on the battery themselves, and there is a cardboard disc obscuring the button so it wont make contact in the pack Building: Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra Complete: R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'

The fast red flashing light is indication of powering off which is noted in the User Guide download on page 22 (Understanding the light display's).
Therefore your problem would appear to be a battery matter. Did you fully charge each cell using the check charger?
The battery in your pic is a vented nipple rather than button top. Often these batteries are the "Protected" type as the vent provides cooling for the protection circuitry behind. Possibly contact your battery vendor to double check that the battery you have is in fact "Unprotected" as it could be there is an error on the site page?
Also as Semaj has noted above.

I will return and get a refund. Do we have a reliable source for these batteries now then?

They messaged me through messenger as i bought from them originally (stupidly) and thought they didnt look right, so i sent them a message, a conversation ensued and he refunded me along with a few other people, so i cant provide a link. There is nothing wrong with the batteries themselves, theyre just no good for our battery pack because the button isnt tall enough due to how it is fitted, but some buttons have a poor connection to the actual cell aswell. An issue he had a while ago and thought had been resolved. I subsequently bought from 18650.co.uk and theyre fine. Just struggling to keep up with demand. I have contacted him and he says they have different batteries now, hoping they will have a better button on top. Have Deagostini provided a link for their recommended ones yet or have I missed it?

He is a decent chap and is well regarded as a seller. I dont think the problem is his fault, its just what was supplied to him. I dont know what he has now as i bought from elsewhere as i mentioned. Unprotected button tops are not particularly common, especially high drain ones. Im not aware that a link from de agostini is available yet Building: Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra Complete: R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'
