Hey guys, after a few hiccups, i managed to iron out 95% of the problems.
Yet one, i cant,
R2D2 doesnt do voice commands, just to rule out that my unit was english, i tried other languages 😂 (badly but still nothing).
All connections are fine, and double checked, i spoke to C/S and they are sending me out another orange Pi to see if that solves it, doubt it would be the microphone? 🤔

Have noticed sometimes he will just go flat out forward, nearly knocked over a coffee table with a cuppa on cause he doesnt stop.
Yet patrol mode, sensors work fine,

Willful droid i get that, but if that was pointed at stairs, he wouldnt stop :(

Hi, sorry to hear you have problems with R2. If you are getting zero response from the mike, it could be a faulty microphone as this is not test during assembly. If, as you say, C/S are sending out a new board then I would see if this solves the problem. If not request a replacement Issue 18 which contained the microphone.

it mentions in the user guide that is should pick up from upto half a meter away (so quite close), ive seen a few people mention that the voice control seems a bit iffy. i wonder if the plastic housing the mic is sitting in is muffling it too much to hear? it might be worth drilling the hole a bit bigger? just a thought

given that the mic is a simple 2 wire microphone i bet one could make a simple test rig that could help see if the mic is getting signal / sound.
it's been a while but a small transistor amp, a battery and a speaker should be the minimal parts , possibly need a couple of capacitors and resistors for the circut.
