The luke hologram is being cut off before the hologram and sound finish playing. Halfway through he will shake his head. The app was recently updated but it was just to fix a typo and they didnt fix the hologram being cut off. Please fix this in a future update because everyone is having the same problem. I think whats causing it is the mic is hearing the sound from off the hologram so he thinks that you are giving him a command when its actually the hologram that hes hearing.

As noted in another R2 topic, this has been raised with the manufacturer. It has nothing to do with the App but is to do with the “droid” word from the hologram being a trigger word in voice control which is cutting short the Luke hologram play.

I wonder if this might require a firmware update on R2 - it sure would be good if there were a mechanism to do so, huh?

I'll just turn off voice control when I'm doing the projector Turning Voice control off doesn't seem to work for me, he is still triggered by the word "Droid" - I suspect that the devs might have to put some code within the app to instruct him to disable the mic once the play hologram command is received. I put him through his paces last night and I am overjoyed, if somewhat emotional that the little dude is finally complete!

I did the same last night, we got our little one to bed and my wife and I sat in the lounge with R2 roaming about, it was surprisingly emotional!

The Google Play Android App has been updated overnight to correct this problem. (IOS devices should not be affected.)

Thanks Tomick, Can confirm that my app updated this morning and the voice recognition disable toggle now works, although this needs to be done before playing any hologram otherwise the issue remains. But at least I can properly demonstrate the Luke message now, before this, it looked like R2 shaked his head in despair when he heard his master say he was being given away

So this is a bit of a ‘bodge-workaround’ rather than a fix If we have to disable voice-rec first?? Surely the proper fix should be to prevent keywords from its own speaker triggering voice-rec?? Well spin my nipple-nuts & send me to AlaskaCurrent Builds:McLaren MP4-23Finished007's Aston Martin DB5FinishedMillennium FalconR2-D2BTTF Delorean (Maybe)

Surely the proper fix should be to prevent keywords from its own speaker triggering voice-rec?? Yeah I guess you could see it as that. But as previously discussed in another thread, there isn't any way to perform firmware/software updates to the R2 units on-board Pi. So my hope is that this is a temporary fix to get the holograms working for demonstration, with the developers looking at updating the app to send firmware updates over the wifi. It's a long shot, but one can hope.

Actually the update automatically disables the voice recognition for the length of the projection, so you don't have to do it manually

Surely the proper fix should be to prevent keywords from its own speaker triggering voice-rec?? The App was always supposed to have the feature of disabling the voice recognition automatically, to allow the Luke sequence. It didn’t which is why it has now been rectified. Regards Mark

Regards Mark Strange, I tried it several times after updating and it still demonstrated the issue. Only way was to do it manually. I will uninstall the app and reinstall later tonight.
