HELP required please.
I recently completed the R2D2 build and went through the normal turning on process.
Sadly I was greeted with the initial red light and jerk forward, however no head turning.
I can hear stuff going on inside the unit but no movement.
There are also other faults Ive discovered, including the inability to connect or recognise my WiFi, and also it just moves in circles due to the left leg motor not working...

Advise appreciated please as this was built for a Christmas gift for my 6 yr old son!
Frustrated beyond belief, as I have paid a lot of money for this.
( Also completed the Millenium falcon, which required two replacement circuit boards to to issues.... )

Update.....
So although the unit does not turn it’s head during switching on procedure, I did manage to get the head to turn around using Local Wifi mode, so it’s obviously not the head motor! But obviously still an issue.
Still can’t connect in direct WiFi mode and the left leg still has no drive.
The rest appears to work, having checked all of the functions using local mode. ( With exception of the head shaking command)

Can you provide a link to the batteries you are using?..

Did you charge the batteries individually using the supplied tester/charger received with issue 92?

Also check all of the connections, ensuring there are no bent or damaged pins, the connectors are all fully seated and orientated the correct way.

Regards

Alan

I am using LG MH1 18650 , 3200mAh, 3.7A unprotected button top batteries bought from Ecolux in the UK.
They are the ones recommended by the company for this build.
Looks like I will have to strip it down and check the connections again...
Thanks

Do you mean recommended by Ecolux as Ecolux have not been recommended by either DeAg or ModelSpace. Suspect the batteries you have are not true button tops as highlighted by Semaj in post 12 onwards in this topic....

Appreciate the post..
Ive just checked and mine seem to be ok. They are the newer ones as I only ordered them 2 days ago, and have power to the unit.

Stripped off the panels and removed the head unit and triple checked the connections.
All were nice and secure with no pinching etc.
I’m guessing the left leg motor is a duff one.
Still not sure why it can’t connect to direct WiFi mode or why the head doesn’t turn when doing its diagnostics.
Only solution I can think of is to get back to DeAgostini and try get a replacement leg motor.
Looks like my boy is going to have to wait a little longer the completed fully operational version.

Right.. it’s almost as if it’s self healing at the moment, because low and behold, It will finally connect to in direct WiFi mode..
I also tested the suspected faulty leg motor with the original battery pack and circuit board, and good news, with bad news.
The motor itself is working, the bad news is, it’s either the wiring from the leg motor or more worrying, the connection port in the main circuit board itself.
The trouble shooting continues...

I think if it was the leg wiring you would not get it working at all so you may be looking at a faulty MCU. Can you double check your labels as well for being placed correctly.
Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Thanks for the post arpurchase.
The motor worked when I unplugged the wiring to it and used the battery box and tester circuit supplied in earlier issues.
Everything else appears to work, meaning if it is the MCU, then it’s just that connection port.
Ive contacted Deagostini and asked them if they could send a replacement wiring loom ( Issue 17 ).
Failing that it must be the MCU.
I knew it was too much to hope for it all to be fully working on first power up..Huh

If the motor leg assembly works fine using the test apparatus then I cant see it needs a replacement loom cable from stage 17 but that you do need a replacement MCU and this is the part you need to reorder.

On another note there are many people out there like myself who had a start as per the instructions and are perfectly happy with there R2.
Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Thanks
I will try get a replacement MCU then, and hopefully that will sort it.
It seems like youself and others have been fortunate with your builds, which is great.
I on the other hand have a had a series of faulty parts with my last two builds ( 2 x MCU boards on the Millenium falcon, and Faultly LED strip lights, and now looks like another faulty MCU with the R2D2 ).
These things arent cheap so it’s dissapointing when the product doesn’t work as it should.
