Hi, I've just finished my R2D2. The batteries have been charged as instructed and I have done the pre-start charging. Despite this Artoo will do nothing at all other than to illuminate his rear status display? Anyone got any ideas why?

There is a troubleshooting guide and access to download the user guide. https://forum.model-space.co.uk/...m=298495&#post298495However, you may want to double check all of your connections making sure no pins are bent, wire are correctly positioned and in the right way. What batteries are you using? Regards Mark

I've checked the wiring. The model remains completely unresponsive other than a single light which illuminates when I hold in the on/off switch...

I am not saying you have this problem with your batts, but we’ve had a couple of reports that among the 6 batteries supplied, the button top has been short in length thus breaking terminal contact.
Semaj has previously noted that the supplier of this battery, modify’s it from being a flat top to a button top. It should therefore be considered as being a modified battery as it’s button top is not O/E Samsung spec as in effect it is a modified Samsung flat top. Just miight be with another check of each batt at the +ve end in the battery box.

I dont think many, if any, manufacturers make high drain button top unprotected cells. This is what i have been told by several suppliers. They are all modified after manufacture. Building:

Ok thank you. Well I don't know? I have done everything stated in the magazine, charged the batteries, checked and rechecked the wiring and connections and still nothing. I have absolutely no clue what to do? Looks like it is going to end up as a very expensive ornament.

Can you check the batteries individually please, make sure the are making a good connection in the battery box. Regards Mark

Hi Mark yes I've checked the batteries twice, they seem to be making the connection and power must be reaching the model as the one lcd display is managing to light? The springs and touching the negative ends and the positive buttons are touching the positive ends?

Still no luck but I've noticed that as well as the rear display, there is also a blue light coming on in his left and right foot when I press the bottom button. It only stays on whilst the button is pressed in . . . anyone got any other thoughts to help me out?

I had the same issue as you and I had wraps on my batteries that were causing no contact due to the plastic brackets in the battery box and the wraps, making the battery avoid contact by an incredibly small margin. I had to unwrap mine and now it works fine. Obviously I don’t encourage you to do this if you’re not comfortable as these types of batteries can be very danagerous if tampered with. But it is something to consider.

I have bright pink wraps on my batteries but as far as I can tell both ends of the batteries are touching the contacts in the battery box? Were yours the Samsung branded ones?

Do not remove any of the wrap or the plastic insulator at the end. This could cause a short and end in disaster. Very stupid if you do this. Building:

No I haven't removed the wrap? I'm thinking it may be an issue with battery connectivity though.

You will need to check that all your batterys are making a good contact at the + end. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
