I can confirm that they are making contact correctly on all 6 batteries,

after a long night stripping down again and re confiming that everything is labled and plugged in correctly it now does the same as neofutures does in his video - https://www.youtube.com/...J4&feature=youtu.be

Ive ordered a replacement MCU, im waiting for it to arrive, hopefully thats where the issue is. it would be nice to get some replication and feedback from the mods as a few people have the exact same issue.

I have this problem still and posted it on the 17/12 i have check everything ...four times!, i was also told that using protected batteries would cause a problem with the MCU but other people have this problem and they used unprotected batteries, i replaced them with unprotected ones now but he problem persists so the problem may be with a faulty MCU i have order a new one and have now stripped my R2 in preparation, the current MCU looks fine no bent pins or anything like that, so i await the new MCU and hope my problem end there

Success

After receiving a replacement MCU and installing it I have got r2 to work.

self test doesn't quite do as it says it should but once it gets past it I have full functionality.

I surmise it must have been a bad batch of MCU issues.
