Thanks Ken.

I Googled the T70 to see what colour schemes there were as I really didn't want dark blue, or red.
The yellow one popped up along with around 30-40 superb detail photo's of the car undergoing restoration. Those pics will help a huge amount when I start adding plumbing and wiring.

Side tanks have been foiled at the ends on the inside as this area shows with the panels in place.

Onward and upwards...

An update again on this one.

It's an old Tamiya kit which is becoming more apparent as I move on.
There is quite a lot of flash, seam lines and ejector pin marks. All unusual for Tamiya these days.
Also, I'm finding quite a lot of parts that don't actually fit together very well.

The latest is the rear bulkhead wall.
The floor tub is a one-piece moulding and the side fuel tanks go straight onto it.

When you put the rear wall in place, it's about 2mm narrower than the base which creates a step in the side of the body where they join.

My fix was to cut through the thin spar in the middle of the lower firewall, and add a piece of plastic strip.
It flexes the rear part wider at the bottom without deforming anything.

Still not quite enough though to take up the total space.
I also added very thin plastic strip to the outer surface of the firewall body.
Result - the parts now line up.

Ready for paint and fitting.

The front of the cockpit was also cleaned up of flash, pin marks and seams, then painted.
It's only sitting on the floor at present. Lots more to do before fitting.

Looking good Roy and making some nice progress with this build. A neat and very simple fix on the undersized bulkhead too - well done. Cool ThumpUp

As always, many thanks for peeping in on my waffle, and the kind words.

The rear wall is now painted and just placed for test fit.
I'm fairly pleased that the join is neat where it meats the side tanks.

Nothing 'stuck together' with the upper body parts just yet.
I have added a fairly prominent piece of wiring to the passenger side pontoon, that is in the actual car.

Still proving to be a fun build...

Another little update for the Lola fans...

The rear firewall is now installed.
It took quite a lot of trimming and fettling at the lower edges to get a good flat fit.
Once again - an old kit...

Inner dash panels painted with a bit of detail painting done.
A touch of artistic licence - I know, the gauges shouldn't have chrome bezels but just leaving it all black looked dull.

Even more for those following.

I foiled inside the front body section as part of it can be seen under the dash if you open the doors.

Also, I leather covered the seats.
Well - I couldn't just leave them plastic...

Very nice work Roy, looks fabulous. I admire your ability to print your own decals - that's a skill I certainly wish I possessed!

Well done. Cool ThumpUp

Thanks Kev.
Actually, making your own decals isn't too difficult - it just takes a fair bit of time.

Regarding the decals - switch panel now added as well as the Lola chassis plate.
The images were taken from photo's from the actual car.

The front upper body is now also permanently in place, as well as the fire extinguisher.
Again, some rivet decals added along the front edges of the body...

Lovely work as always Roy, that instrument panel looks great, well done.

I've never understood how to go about achieving the correct size on my computer screen so that the decals are printed at the scale size needed for the model? Is there a standard formula for working that bit out or is it just a process of trial, error and adjustment?

Hello Kev.

When making my decals, I use Serif Page plus.
I can import images, crop them, recolour them, alter them and even correct perspective if the original pic was taken at an angle.
Then size them to what I want and build up a page of however many, or whatever, I want.

I also create my own images using Page Plus, or Paintshop pro for things such as number roundels and numbers, registration plates, 'odd' images I can't find - whatever.

It's all part of the fun of model making...

I've now assembled the doors and roof support section but as yet it's all only test-fitted.
More to do with the doors still unattached to the main tub.

Wheels now also put together, with some really nice (but almost pointless) etch parts for the brake discs.
Funnily enough, the rear tyres seem almost a bit too wide to fit the rims.
Too bulbous on the sides and quite difficult to fit.

Anyway - no we go.
