In this update, I have marked all the wire and attached them to the boards as stated in this issue. This is not a five-minute job, as you need plenty of concentration making sure the cables are tagged correctly and placed in the correct slots. The parts are well marked, but it is still recommended to double check everything. The connectors are easily fitted and will only go into the slots one way.
I then tidied up the cables with cable ties provided.

More soon

Just a small update here and a little tweaking on R2. I decided to make the data slot look more like a slot by darkening the middle. To get a straight smooth finish I used a piece of heat shrink tubing and cut it to size. I then placed some double-sided tape rather than glue and placed it onto the tubing, and then fitted it in place in the data slot. Although not very noticeable, it does give the appearance of more depth.

Now to piece him all together. I finished the back panel, and I have used some metal pigment powder around the top edge so when the dome is attached it shows a metallic rim.

That’s it, he has been a delight to build and it is certainly like having a child around the house.

Thank you to everyone who has been following this build, I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have building it.

I’ve posted more pictures of R2-D2 in the finished gallery.
