The magazine does not describe to buy Ultrafire batteries, it actually describes recommendation NOT to buy batteries from auction sites and to buy from a reputable battery seller. The Ultrafires shown in the magazine are bonafide Ultrafire batteries. Unfortunately there are many fake Ultrafire batteries on the market that don’t meet the spec stated, it could be that the batteries sold to you via eBay are such.

To determine this, we need to verify your battery spec, in particular what the capacity discharge (Amps) is, this might be printed on the battery or obtained from the spec noted on eBay. If you can provide the eBay seller link, we can possibly determine this for you and go from there.

You may not actually need to replace your batteries but as a start point, we need to verify the spec of what you have which need to be over 3 Amp capacity discharge. If they are less than this, there won’t be enough Amperage to correctly power R2 and will throw up all sorts of glitches.

It’s difficult to determine what problems there actually if if the batteries used may be incorrect.. So let’s start by verifying your battery - do you have a link to the eBay seller?

There is nothing I can see that says Unprotected and nothing noted about its capacity discharge Amperage. Also says the battery can be cycled up to 1000 times which is unlikely as the norm is 3-500 and therefore could suggest a fake, and in fact other sellers of the same battery indicate it is a Protected type. Therefore is unsuitable for R2 regardless of what it’s Amps is, (R2 battery spec should be Unprotected).

You need to ask the seller if it is an Unprotected battery and what it’s capacity discharge (Amps) is., I suspect it will be unsuitable for R2 in both aspects.

Afraid it’s not a magic wand, all it does is give you a start point of having a battery spec which meets the requirements to operate R2 and any problem caused by having incorrect batteries should no longer be the case, (providing that no damage has been done by previously having installed a protected battery).
Correct batteries won’t cure incorrect wiring or component fault - this is the next thing to check through if your R2 still has problems once the new batteries are installed. The fact remains that the batteries you currently have are unsuitable.
