Hi - just checking, to test the plug on the battery box, I’m literally connecting the multimeter to the red and black contacts in the plug itself? Each battery is reading 4+ v each, but at the plug I’m getting nothing.

They’re these, but with button tops (welded on?) The page on Amazon is mysteriously no longer available. I’m getting over 12v across the series, but nothing at the plug.

these are flat top, you should be using button top.

They’re these, but with button tops (welded on?) The page on Amazon is mysteriously no longer available. I’m getting over 12v across the series, but nothing at the plug. Hate to say it but your batteries are flat tops rather than button tops, which is why you have no power coming from the battery box. The +ve end of your battery has no means to make contact with the battery box terminals which button tops do.

Hi - as I said they have button tops, possibly welded on after. I'm getting over 12v testing across the series in the box, but nothing at the plug.

going by the link you sent it does say flat top, can you put a photo of the batteries positive end please.

They look dubious to me, it's the double rim too which would indicate some kind of protection. Take a look at this site, it explains batteries differences and what to look for... Can you check that the solder joints are good on the lead into the battery box. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

It says 'unprotected' on the description. This is all a bit frustrating. Would a protected battery perform in any way, as I'm switching R2 on and getting absolutely nothing. I would have thought, even with a protected battery, something would light up or buzz? As I said, full voltage across the series in the battery box, but nothing at the plug. All batteries have been tested at the positive/negative plates in the box.

Also if the batterys are protected you may find they have already damaged a component but we wont know that untill we sort out the power problem in the battery box. You might find that they won’t send you the MCU as it’s not yet been identified as having fault., ordering replacements you do not yet need is not in keeping with the terms of free replacements.

it is a case of elimination as you know, batteries, battery case etc, you will get there.

For the record, it was the MCU. I replaced the batteries, then the battery box, and finally replaced the MCU and rewired the whole thing. Now works a treat.
