Hi all.
Im extremely new to building models using wood im mainly used to plastic tbh..

Anyway i have in my posession every issue and all the parts of the HMS Victory all unopened..

Since i came into posession of this build i have been watching youtube videos to gain the knowledge of atempting the build..

I have decided in my mind to do the full build with the sails.......

As for the build time im just going to do it a bit at a time there are a few tools i need to purchase like a plank bender and a pin pusher...
I have other tools in my box which will help.....

As for the look im unsure on a natural look or the painted look.....

Happy days....

Well i went through the mags n all the parts today.
It took me and the missus best part of an hr to sort omly to actually find several issues missing and parts..

So i contacted the guy and told him i want my money back and he can collect anyway he did come down and tried to put the blame upon me..
Eventually i got my money back....Angry

So now im going to order it online and pay mthly for it.....BigGrin

Gives me time to appreciate the build better and by not having everything in front of me i cannot be tempted to rush anything....

Good decision Ant(??).

You will also have to decide whether to tile or not. Hey ho.

Looking forward to seeing you work. Remember to put your diary up. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum Ant, great to have you aboard...Cool Cool .. Think you have made an excellent choice in taking on this iconic ship, she's a beautiful build and there's a vast array of information on this forum to help you achieve a very successful build... There is the Official build, this follows the steps given in the instructions very closely and is the one area I would recommend you follow very closely especially as this is your first venture into the world of working with wood....

https://forum.model-spac...topics&f=17&p=2

There is also the Official Video build, again this follows the instructions very closely. Its another area I would advise you follow on your journey...

https://www.youtube.com/...pjUDnPzoDagw3u2T7tQIBv4

There is also a multitude of members build diaries you can look through giving lots of ideas and tips on building this beauty.

https://forum.model-spac....aspx?g=topics&f=21

Would also strongly recommend you create and maintain a build diary of your own. Should you require any advice or assistance with your build then just ask, there are many on this forum ready and willing to offer assistance if needed. The creation of a build diary makes it easier for members to see your work and give assistance when needed.

Good luck with your build and I look forward to following your progress....Cool Cool

Regards

Alan

Thank you...

I will know doubt want help and lots of it down the route..
I not in any rush to complete the build as it will be extremely time consuming..

Oh another thing..
If i paint the ship i will be using the brush method as i dont see the need to purchase a spray system....

By the time you include a compressor they can be expensive that's for sure. I bought mine in readiness for painting the hull and I must say, I wished I had got it sooner. The finish is so much better and you are able to use many more layers.

I have a 1.2m length of 25mm plywood thats 150mm wide that i will use to attach the keel to which should make the frame more rigid to work with....

Good you're thinking of a build jig to ensure your keel is straight and true. I certainly wouldn't attempt a ship of this size without the use of a build jig....

More info on build jigs can be found here....
