Thanks for looking in and leaving such nice comments Mark and Trev, very much appreciated as always. Detail work has been completed on both seats today, some final detail painting to be done, then various dataplate decals to be added, followed by a dark wash and drybrushing to complete. Then it's on with the rest of the cockpit.

Merry Christmas to you too Trev! Cool ThumpUp

Hello all,

The ejection seats are finally finished! BigGrin ThumpUp

They were a lot of work and very fiddly at times but pleased with the way that they look when finished. The white leg straps were made from thin strips of aluminium foil from the base of a mince pie tray. I have varied the way that the various seatbelts and straps are arranged on the seats just to give variety and because in reality they would be dropped onto the seat differently and never look exactly the same? On the left side of each seat you may just be able to make out a couple of small pipes that are linked together? These are oxygen and communication feeds which the crew will connect to their facemasks upon entry, and again, I have positioned them slightly differently between each seat for variety. The last two photos of the seats are the obligatory 'penny' shots just to show how small these seats are in 1:48 scale!

I will be continuing with detailing the cockpit very shortly but needed a break from working on very fine detail, so started assembling some of the larger parts of the aircraft ready for adding to the fuselage later on. These included the air intake tunnels and compressor blades, the top deck of the fuselage and the tailfin. There are a couple of clear plastic light to be fitted to the tailfin but I have left them off for now, they will be masked o the sprue and then fitted just before painting the whole fuselage. The engine compressor blades will be very difficult, if not impossible to see through the intakes when fully assembled but I painted them and added a dark wash to bring out the detail anyway - just for the hell of it! There are other assemblies that can be built out of sequence to the instructions so as I go forward I will be mixing them into my diary at the same time as doing the smaller cockpit detail work just to break things up a bit and to give my sanity (and eyesight) a chance!

Thanks for looking, all comments and criticisms welcomed. ThumpUp
