Thanks for peeping in Ken.
It really is a great kit, even if it's an old tool model just with etch bits added.

The harness is now made and fitted, and the doors/centre roof section fixed in place.
The doors aren't actually closed in the pic as I want the roof section to be really dry and solid before shutting the doors tight.

Many thanks chaps.
As I mentioned a while back, it really is a lovely kit even though the actual tooling is pretty archaic.

I've built up some of the rear suspension after de-seaming most of the parts and re-covering them in BMF.

As this actual kit isn't quite the same as the car I'm modelling, a few bits need 'adjusting'.
Such as the door number roundels.
The real car doesn't have the centre twist handle but as this feature actually works and keeps the model doors nicely closed I didn't want to remove it and fill the depression in the door skin.
Therefore I've had to cut the decal and fit it over the handle.
Once dry, it was cut into further 'clock' style, and the pieces put down using Microsol.
Again, when dry I touched in any missing areas of black.
The actual recess was painted white before I added the decal.

Malc.

I quite fancy any kit that I've watched Roy build,
and in Roy's case case the word 'build' is an understatement Cool

But This one does seem rather a lot of money Sad.

Many thanks for your very kind words chaps.
Yes, the kit is quite expensive. I'm not sure of it's current price but I bought mine when it was reissued about 6 years ago.
If Tamiya ever reissue it again, I'll probably get another one.

I've started adding the various oil tanks and coolers to the rear.
There are quite a few missing pipes in the kit so I've added them as I've been going along. Still a lot more to add.
Engine in next...

Thanks Malc.

A bit more on the rear. Engine now installed but a lot of missing parts needed such as another oil cooler, alternator, coil, gear change linkage, lots of plumbing etc etc...

Ignore the wonky rear wheels - upper suspension struts not fitted yet.

Slowly ticking forwards...

I've added a drive pulley to the right driveshaft for the missing alternator - not yet scratch made.
Rear suspension etc now all in place, and several oil and breather pipes added that weren't in the kit.
Ignition coil also needs scratching, another oil cooler to be scratched.
All in all, several missing parts from the kit but it's what makes it fun.

I scratched an alternator from a piece of tube and cast the ends in resin from a simple plasticine mould taken from the alternator parts out of another 1/12 scale car kit (Datsun 240Z)

The drive pulley is made from two washers. Drive belt still to add...

Thanks you guys.

Work on the engine end is almost done except for another oil cooler to be added.
The alternator and coil have been scratched and put in.
Bodywork next...

Just a little more done.
I've added some decals and prepped the main front and rear body panels last night.
Hope to get some yellow on it later today.

Getting near to the end now.

Another update for any Lola fans.

The front and rear have been painted now and fog lights, inner grille and under-nose panel fitted.

The main body panels fit a treat but there are still lights to add front and rear, as well as several small fittings and the screen wiper.

Then it will be the triple white stripes and the rest of the decals.
Getting there now.
