I must admit, reading the many threads about all the various issues people are having is making me very worried about how my R2 will perform when I get my last delivery this month. I'm starting to worry I'll end up with a very expensive ornament!

To try to inject some positivity back in to the project, it would be good to hear from some people whose R2's work perfectly?

Mine was completed yesterday and everything works perfectly.

There has been a series of folk buying wring batteries, being a little ham-fisted, and some possible component problems, but remember that most people who will post will do so to say they have a problem.

Not as many will post to say everything works ok. Be positive!

Good to hear yours is working James, as did mine. Don't worry ahead of you finishing Phill, if all has been assembled correctly and the correct batteries used, I'm sure you will be ok.

Ill be honest. I too was apprehensive. It started up fine, patrol mode works well avoiding everything as it should, connecting the app via direct was fairly straight forward (couldnt get it to connect via local due to the configuration of my home broadband router, no biggie though and not an issue). It drives perfectly well via the manual and video modes. Its great fun! All the command features work - shake head, all the sounds, dance etc. Im loving playing around with it.

My only issues are that the saber doesnt pop up and the projector dosent give any images, but i am sure i will eventually get to the bottom of these problems. It also has a habit of going beserk - until you turn voice control off then its all good.

Mine all works fine except voice control, but seeing as you the voice commands are also all in the app, I'm not taking him apart to check the mic and then maybe dislodge something else!

I'm so pleased as that final wiring certainly took some dexterity!

I will hold my hands up and say I am by no means the most experienced model builder on here. My R2D2 ran straight awayLaugh

I followed the instructions, did the correct tests when instructed to do so and was very careful with all the final wiring.....

Just charged batteries and upon turning R2 on it started perfectly and everything works as it should. Very nice piece of kit. Many thanks to the mods here for their help and also the forum community for your input. Altogether a very enjoyable build (with a little swearing here and their lol

As a quick update, I've been running R2 for well over 2hrs so far, and my battery level shows 91% still!

That is pretty impressive.

My batteries are these: https://18650.uk/product/samsung-30q-button-top/
