Tony Foulds saw the American B-17 bomber crash in Endcliffe Park in 1944 when he was eight years old.
The crew of the Flying Fortress steered away from him and his friends playing in the field before crashing into a wood.
Since a memorial was erected in the 1970's, he has regularly kept plants watered and tended the area in remembrance of the 10 aircrew that died. Mr Foulds said how he felt guilty over the incident and wants a flypast to honour the victims of the 75th anniversary on February 22nd 2019.

Saw this on Breakfast Tv. It was a genuinely moving experience watching his dedication to tending and maintaining the memorial.
Sincerely hope this does come about, not just for Mr Foulds, but to remember the airmen that died ensuring their plane didn't crash into the children playing in the park.

Truly a remarkable man for doing what he's done all these years. Have great hopes his wish will come to fruition and we'll see a fly past happen to give the crew the recognition the deserve...

That's great news, I'm so pleased for the old chap who's cared for the graves of those lost airmen all of these years, what a nice and fitting tribute it will be!
Well done to the RAF and USAF.

The “Mi Amigo” flypast, led by a sole F-15 is tomorrow (22nd Feb) at 8.45am. The aircraft expected to take part in this historic event include F-15’s, Typhoons, Ospreys and a Dakota but will be dependent on the weather.
The aircraft have been marked with the names of the Mi Amigo crew.
The BBC will be broadcasting live from the park from 6am to 9.15am on Friday, and visitors are encouraged to arrive at the park anytime from 7.15am. A memorial service will take place from 8am, with a Bugler playing one verse of Amazing Grace. There will be a reading from St John’s Gospel by a Royal British Legion and a bugler will play the Last Post and Reveille, followed by the flypast at 8.45am.
The best viewing area will be in the large field close to the Endcliffe Park café, where a big screen will be set up to relay events to the crowd.

Very emotional moment for him. As he said in his interview on TV, the flypast was for those brave dead airmen, and made him feel proud, but still felt guilty for surviving even after all these years. It was good to see the decendants there to pay their respects too.
