Here is my entry for the D-Day 75 Anniversary competition
I’ll be building the LCVP Landing Craft with US Infantry by Italeri with 1:35 Eduard Photoetch Etched parts

Developed by Higgins Industries of New Orleans on the basis of a flatbottomedboat used in the Louisiana marshlands, the LCVP (Landing Craft,Vehicle and Personnel) took part in all the major amphibious operations ofSecond World War, in Europe and the Pacific. Its task was to shuttle backand forth between the big ships and the beaches, carrying up to thirty men, light vehicles and anything else that was needed. Generally armed with tworear-mounted machine guns, it was powered by a 250 HP Hall Scott petrolengine or a 225 HP Gray diesel engine. After the end of the Second WorldWar the LCVP stayed in service, occupying a number of roles. It saw actionin Korea and Indochina and has also been adapted for civilian use all overthe world.

Nice choice of kit Mark, should make a fabulous diorama. Will you be having it ramp down on the beach or en route to the beach?

Good luck with your entry. Cool ThumpUp

Hi Kev
So far I’m going with them en route to the beach. Choppy sea scene.

Sounds good Mark. Having seen what you did with your 'Pod Racer' dio I've no doubt that you will make an excellent and realistic job of the choppy sea and the dio in general.

Looking forward to your diary and good luck in the competition. Cool ThumpUp

Joined the forum to see how this build goes - I used to love building model kits ~15 years ago, but haven't made the time for a very long while.
I bought this exact kit ~6 mons ago and have yet to really start in anger (making time...!). Work, family and moving house means there's no way I'll be done by June to enter, but I'd love to see how the experts do things, so I'll be following this with great interest (and envy!) Good look!

Thanks guys for all your comments.Cool

Lets get started. I have received the Eduard PE details that goes with this kit to bring out the detail a little. Made a start on the model, before I give it a primer coat. Lots of PE still to fit.

More soon.
