Thanks to everyone who took the time to look in and especially to those that commented, very much appreciated all round....Cool Cool

In this build stage we move onto assembling the bow bell tower. Started with a 3x3mm wooden strip and cut two lengths of 40mm. Following the measurements given in the instructions I then cut a rebate in each length, 3mm wide and 1mm deep. Rebate is to accommodate the moulding surrounding the deck opening. Test fitted to ensure a good fit then painted the strips red..

Took the diecast bell housing top and cleaned off any burrs or casting lines, primed the piece and again painted red. Glued the top onto the two previously prepared wooded strips ensuring they were set 6mm apart and running parallel, left to dry fully before continuing.

From a remnant of 1x3mm strip then cut a piece 6mm in length, shaped the top as per the instructions. Applied a dark wood stain and left to dry. From the remnant also cut two pieces 2mm long and glued them onto the centre of the previously prepared piece, one on either side. Painted the two small pieces black and applied a 1mm black strip to either end of the completed assembly. Glued the assembly between the two uprights, 4mm from the bell tower top.

The diecast bell was filed to remove any burrs, primed and painted brass. From a length of 0.8mm brass rod, cut a 4mm length and glued to the centre of the bell to resemble the bell clapper. Once dried, then glued the bell in place. The completed assembly was then glue into position as shown in the instructions. This completed stage 51 so until next time, happy building all....Cool Cool

Regards

Alan

In this build stage we create and fit the banisters to the stairways. From an 0.8mm brass rod I cut twelve 13mm lengths and filed the ends flat. These were then primed and painted black.

When dry, glued 3 of the prepared lengths onto each of the stairway sides following the measurements given in the instructions and ensuring all lengths were upright.

Took a length of 1x3mm wooden strip and cut 4 pieces each 25mm long. Sanded smooth, rounded off the ends and stained with a dark wood stain. When dry, glued the pieces onto the ends of the brass uprights again following the instructions on how they should be positioned. This brought an end to stage 51 so until next session, happy building all....Cool Cool
