CLEAR SEALANT - Stage 12 calls for applying a clear sealant before staining. Any suggestions as to what type of clear sealant? Also, I would think that by applying a sealant this would keep the stain from penetrating into the planking. Never done this before, just asking. Thanks

Personally I would seal after a coat of wood stain has been applied. Any clear sealant from a hardware store should be fine but ask about its colour first as some have a yellow colour to them. Also make sure the stain and varnish are comatable with each other for instance both water based or oil based donot mix water a nd oil based paints..
