Good morning from 'The Dockyard'. This week continues with the addition of part-works supplied items to the conning tower. The first step was to prep the conning tower hatch by which all look-outs would gain access to the bridge. The only thing that I didn't like about the moulded plastic hatch was the spring. So i decided to cut this section out and replace it. The attached photo shows the moulded plastic spring removed. I then made the attack periscope mast housing and will paint and weather as a separate item. The difference between the search and attack periscopes is that the search periscope is binocular, while the attack periscope is monocular and thus smaller in cross section and less visible, hence its name.
