Hi, I am having the same issue, when I power up the unit the head slams to the right and left then stops causing the motor to make a whining noise. If I disconnect the head motor, power up and manually turn the head left and right the unit seems to work ok (Minus any head movement). I do not believe it is the motor at fault as it works fine when connected to the test board I tried contacting your customer support, but they insist I use this forum. Also I am very disappointed at the fact that the R2 unit does not work on a carpeted floor, this fact was not made clear at the start of the subscription as my house is completely carpeted apart from the bathroom I would not have taken out a subscription and If I could return the whole thing I would Please can you advise my next steps Regards David

Hi can you double check your connections are fully seated and without any bent pins and that they are all labeled correctly too. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Yes I've double and triple checked the connections and pins. I've even been on the Facebook group and watched several videos to confirm they are connected correctly, everything at the moment points to a faulty mcu.

Get a replacement MCU from C/S. You should have some spare washers left in your spares box from the assembly of the centre foot. Members have put forward a fix for carpet travel by adding two more washers to raise the centre foot more. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Before you ask for a replacement mcu, you may want to try and reposition the dome drive shaft, the one the spindle goes into. Take it out of the motor and turn it 180 degrees so it looks as if it still in the same position. Then re-attach the head making sure the head fits into the dome shaft slots all the way as the dome may sit better in the slots. I’m sure you haven’t, but make sure you are not using the spindle from the display stand. Only asking because I cannot see your R2 assembly. If it still doesn’t resolve the problem then by all means order a replacement MCU from c/s as Andy has suggested. Regards Mark

Ok, I've just removed all the cables, checked they are all labelled correctly and reinstalled them, but it still slams the head to the Right then the left and makes a whining noise.
I have installed the extra 2 washers in the front wheel but am unable to test until I get the R2 unit working.
I have also rotated the dome drive shaft, but this made no difference.
I shall be contacting C/S tomorrow for a replacement MCU.
Do you know how long it will take for a replacement MCU to be sent out as I have a very expensive R2 unit sitting here completely useless until I get the part?

Update:
Just to let you know, everything on the R2 unit works except the head. If I disconnect the head motor, power on and manually turn the head after it shunts forward, I can fully control the unit except the head. The carpet problem has been fixed with the extra washers, thank you

I Still need help. I have had problems with the completed R2. When I power up the head slams to the left, then right and does nothing. If I disconnect the head motor, which works on the test board, and turn the head manually it works fine (minus any head movement). I have contacted Deagostini and they replaced the MCU, which arrived today. I have just fitted the unit and I am getting the same results. I have checked the cables so many time I could do it blindfolded now. can anyone suggest what I do next, please?

Fault could lie with the Dome motor, request a replacement for issue 96., unfortunately its a process of elimination.

My R2 would start up, and turn his head one way, then grind as though he wanted to turn his head further...
I figured that the cause was the sensor cables had been plugged in the wrong way round.
Swapping them over sorted the issue straight away.
