Piero Remor designed the Gilera four, which won six 500cc world titles in the 1950’s, and the MV Agusta four, which won ten 500cc crowns over the next decade and a half. These machines inspired the mass-produced inline-four streetbikes that have dominated the motorcycle market for decades, all the way from Honda’s CB750 of 1969 to today’s BMW S1000RR, Honda Fireblade, Kawasaki ZX-10R, MV F4, Suzuki GSX-R1000, Yamaha YZF-R1 and so on.

I think this season will be dominated by the V4 Ducati. I got to see the test bike at Brands, and it was a stunner. It turns in like it's on rails and with the torque from the V4 it launches out of the corners like a scalded cat. Suzuki are certainly on the up, but they have lack of track time data, and Yamaha are now chasing both.

Have to agree with you Nem, but at least Yamaha have now employed a test rider, which is something they’ve steered away from in the past. Yes definitely playing catch-up
