Like everybody else your thoughts eventually turn to planking and ultimately planking bending...

Im waiting on the electric plank bender to arrive which i ordered from model space nrly 2wks ago so i assume they are out of stock for thebtime being...

Anyway...
Im looking at the doing the following..

First im going to try the soaking method and then clamp the planks to the frame using the modified bull clips as i dont really want to use the pin method...
So letting the plank dry to see how it shapes after it dries out..
I have read about compression etc and i really dont want the planks to spit and then run out of planks...

Then again i have the electric plank bender to help just incase.....

Ive looked at jigs etc and Huh do i have the skill to make one!

Hi Ant
I had this problem on the stern of the Cutty Sark in which I tried soaking and bending only to split. in the end I made a jig from ply and nails and then laminated the plank using thinner planks.
Hope this helps
Terry

I find it depends on the material being supplied with the kit determines what method I use to bend planks. With the Victory I used bending pliers, soaking the strips and the electric plank bender, sometimes a combinations of all 3 methods were needed to achieve the bend required. It also comes down to personal preference and experience gained.

Regards

Alan
