Hello there! I've not really been into forum posting although I have read posts of other Victory builders. I am about 6months into the project (first time building a ship of this size) and thought I'd share some photos of where I am now in the build. I know bits of it need tidying up but I figure it is a learning process and will be easier with the next build. BoatBetty attached the following image(s):

Hi BoatBetty,
Welcome to the Forum which, as you can see, is very friendly and so helpful.
Looks like you have got off to a good start there with the Victory build.
For various reasons, I have not even started my build yet. I bought the entire kit around the middle of 2018
and while I am finishing off another build, I have been reading all the posts on here to try and get mine on the right
lines once I do start.
Look forward to seeing more of your build diary.

It has been a while since I updated my build diary but that doesn't mean I haven't been building (inbetween my full time real job)! What do you think? I'm now tackling the copper tiling which is taking foreeeeeeeeeeeeeever!

Looks like you are having fun and the results are great. If you resize your pics to 650 pixels width they will fit the forum format and show as pics rather than downloads. Looks very nice indeed. Credit to you on giving the copper tiling a go. What you have done so farlooks very nice and its really going to make your model look very special once you get it all complete. Tony Happy Modelling

Very nice work with the copper tiles. Are those self adhesive or CA glue? I am in the middle of tiling my Victory and using medium CA glue and it is making a mess. Also how are cutting your tiles the x-acto blades don't work very well.

Happy New Year all! Apologies I have not been on here for some time now, however, the build has continued in the background and I am VERY pleased with how it is looking currently (given this is only my second ship build ever and the other was a much smaller Artesania Latina build)! So, I finished copper tiling the hull, have done the main and fore masts and am now on the somewhat crucial task of trying to get the black stripes painted in the correct places! Any tips? I'm trying to follow the photo in stage 75 and placing the masking tape more or less in relation to the distance of the stripes from the gun ports but am finding that the ends of the stripes then do not match up too well with where they are shown in the photo of the bulkhead, or the transom... I am an OCD perfectionist so it took a while to get over the copper tiling not being as good as I thought I could make it - I need to get the stripes right!! FightingWillie - sorry I didn't see your post before! I used superglue gel in the end and good old fashioned sharp scissors to cut the tiles as I found it hard with blades. Scissors generally worked well, although it was very tricky when trying to cut the really thin slivers to fit in the spaces at the ends of rows by the waterline.
I hope your build is going well.

Thanks for the response I used medium CA and in hindsight I should have used the gel. I had a lot of it coming out around the edges. Yes the scissors worked the best , I used embroidery scissors.

Same here! I used to do embroidery but who would have thought the scissors would have another use!

Well, what a year! Not been able to do much at all on my model until this past week - yes, despite the lockdowns! But I'm back on track and am really quite chuffed with what I've been able to complete and how it looks given it is my first big model boat (did do the Pinta as my first but it was a small model and doesn't look anywhere near as impressive as this one!) and nearly all the techniques are new to me. Note: I haven't fixed the rudder on yet nor the port hole covers as I feel they will get damaged as I move the boat around in my very small workspace. So I thought I'd upload a few pics for where I am now and how it is looking.....if I never see another baluster again in my life, it will be too soon! I need to tidy them up a little bit in terms of paint as they lost a bit with my clumsy fiddling with the tweezers to get them in position. I also lost the plot with the number on each row and spacing so I gave up and put enough to fill the row (I guess I am the only one who will know the incorrect number have been used). Back to making the chainwales for today...another fiddly task which I abandoned after making the foremast chainwales knowing I'd have to come back to them later! On a side note, I've just managed to buy the complete Soleil Royal model...so that means I now have the Vasa, Soleil Royal and Sovereign of the Seas kits in the cupboard ready for construction....at the rate I'm going, they'll all be finished just short of my 103rd birthday! Hi BoatBetty,
You are doing a brilliant job there and you are at exactly the same point in the build as myself.
The final, mizzen set of chainwales were completed yesterday which I found daunting for some reason.
