Well i finally have an afternoon off and have got home, unfortunatly i need to be back for 6am in the morning, so after doing the hospital visits to see parents i can spend a few quality hours with the old VIC.
But FIRST, i would like to say that this forum is like a family. Never have i done any thing before were i have found so much help and support than this forum, and not just by the way of advice and encouragement.
To that end i would now like to publicly thank all those that offered help when it was discovered a twist in the hull of my build.
Mainley.
A big thank you to David, AKA Lonestar Spirit, who offerd his build so far free of charge to me. That offer really made me feel like being a part of a family, so DAVID, thank you.
When i discovered i had lost the cabin parts, and asked for dimesions to try and build them myself, again people on this forum came to help. For this part Daffy09 came to my aid as he had spare parts. He, now i presume Daffy is a he, sent those parts to me. I asked him for his details and the cost of sending them to me and was told it was OK. So again, a big thank you to daffy09.
And to all those that offred spare planking when i might have had to start again. THANK YOU, all of you.
Well this is the longest post i have ever written on her but i needed to say thanks to those great people on here so that, all those that read this know how helpfull people on this forum are.
best regards
Foz

Quick question.
It says in the magazine to trim the hight of the ships wheel when doing the poop deck.
Question is, do you take equal amounts from both top and bottom, or just from the top?
Thanks on advance for your advice.

take your pick, not much to take off,but be careful it's very fragile. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

I know how fragile it is Karl. Allready snaped it once, cant see the break as its to the rear, But i think ill try a little from both sides so the wheel is more central.
Thanks

Well the last pic shows the planking not looking very good but it does look better when not close up. Have stained the deck now. You will notice the ships wheel, not exactly central. This is due again to the warp i have and it has thrown the mast slightly off also. Something ill have to live with. And the picture here not very clear but i added some cord around the wheel. So thats it for now. Only got 1 more issue to go then i am back on track with my build. happy building folks.

Hi Foz, great build mate...that mast problem you have, would it help to off-set the top hole from the centre line slightly with a round file...also the hole in the deck below...I had to do this with my Cutty Sark. I used a home made wooden collar to hide the modification...it worked well for me mate...Hope this idea helps... Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

Hate to be the one to bring bad news Foz, but it looks like your upper 'wale' and 'moulding' has been fitted too high! I believe Jonny (england) had a similar problem and managed to fix it, have a look on his build diary, it may save problems later on, don't worry too much about ripping bits off to rectify problems, weve all been there but it's very satisfying when it's been sorted. Best of luck whatever you decide to do. Jeff

Hi Jeff
I know they are a bit high but due to unforseen problems with my build from day 1, there is not a lot i can do about it, mainley a twist in the hull.
And at the end of the build, not many people will get to see it so ill just put it down to experience, (LACK OFF) and live with it.
I have learned so much from other builders on here by doing this build that the other ships i have on the go will benifit from what i have learned, and i plan on doing another victory later on with a lot more knowlege under my belt.
Anyway, thanks for pointing that out and happy building.
regards
Foz
