Good morning from 'The Dockyard'. Just a short update this week as I've been busy with other things. The next step was to fit the directional compass to the bridge as per the part-works instructions. The attached photo shows the compass and brackets removed from their sprues. Compass from another angle. I recently downloaded images of different compass roses used by the Kriegsmarine in WWII. When everything is painted I will pick one, resize it in power-point and then make a decal of it and fit in place to the top of the compass. For those that don't know, the compass rose is the engraved plate showing the four directions; north, south, east & west, usually in alternate black and white. The attached photo shows one of the etched brass seats for the bridge, removed from it's sprue, cleaned up and ready for fixing. The instructions suggest to fix these in the folded down position, but as i want 3 lookouts on the bridge and space is at a premium, i glued them folded up. Next week i'm back on the scratch building; step ladders for the upper deck, earthing wire brackets and repositioning the step ladders on the lower deck as I've realised they are in the wrong place!! The more i study and analyse photos, the more detail I see!
