Hi,

My build is complete. I had an issue with squeeling wheels, but that was an easy fix following advice in these forums. However:

The Lightsaber mechanism is not working correctly.

App and Button control respond to commands, with lights and sounds, however the lift mechanism only activates intermittently.

I have noticed on the motor, (checking images in the magazines and in this forum), that the wires/terminals of the motor are covered with a blob of glue/plastic(?). My motor had this thick covering when it was installed, but subsequent use causes the glue to turn into a liquid and drip from the motor.

The glue/plastic and motor is warm, but not hot when it runs.

Solder has contact between wire and terminal.

Any ideas?

Again, it works intermittently, (sound and lights every time), so there is power, it's just that the lift mechanism only moves 5% of the time.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Hi

The glue is from a heat gun so as the motor is binding its hotting up and melting as you have observed. You could try dismantling the light sabre to see where it is binding but if you cant see anything you could try adding a small amount of silicon grease to the groove that the ejector travels up and down in.

Also the lightsabre will only go up so it pushes open the flap so the travel is around 4 cm at best.
Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Thanks for the reply.

I'll dismantle the assembly as you have suggested. I was reluctant to guess at the problem as my knowledge of electronics is pretty much zero.

Thanks
