Stage 6 - Contains two 5-W keel sections, reinforcing plates, paravane platform, paravane's, winch and photo-etched brass railings.

A 'Paravane' is are a form of towed underwater "glider", initially developed to destroy mines, the paravane would be strung out and streamed alongside the towing ship, normally from the bow. The wings of the paravane would tend to force the body away from the towing ship, placing a lateral tension on the towing wire. If the tow cable snagged the cable anchoring a mine then the anchoring cable would be cut, allowing the mine to float to the surface where it could be destroyed by gunfire. If the anchor cable would not part, the mine and the paravane would be brought together and the mine would explode harmlessly against the paravane. The cable could then be retrieved and a replacement paravane fitted.

Start by adding the two 5-W keel parts to the base plate, then add the reinforcing plates between frame 17 and the slots for frame 18, the reinforcing plates should be clamped in place.

Carefully cut the two end lengths from the railing length as shown in the step 5, then form one large and one small hoop around the lengths of dowel supplied, glue the overlap joints and the locate the smaller hoop into the centre of the larger hoop to form the antenna ball shape.

File any burrs from the supplied cast metal parts, then prime and paint the parts along with the antenna and length of railing.

Mark the positions of the two Paravane's and glue them in place upon the platform, also glue the antenna onto its support already secured to the top of the island, (you may want to consider leaving the securing of the antenna hoop until the railing's have been added).

The railing lengths needs to be cut into 5 measured lengths as shown in the steps marked A-E, the lengths are then formed to shape in the positions shown on the island, and bend the feet of the railing stanchions to 90 degrees, which form the railing supports. Then glue each of the railing's in place on the island.

That's it for stage 6, carefully store the assembly.

Stage 8 - Contains frames 20 & 21, keel 8-W, platform & platform castings.

Start by adding frames 20/21, then add keel 8-W ensuring that it sits at 90 degrees to the base.

Carefully remove any burrs from the cast metal parts and glue the two platform castings onto the platform in the positions shown in the instructions, not forgetting to fill the small void between the platform and the side of the observation post; then prime & paint the assembly.

That's it for Stage 8, carefully store the assembly.

Future stages:

Stage 9 - Contains frames 22, 23 & 24, paravane platform, paravane's and winch, plus Tweezers.

Stage 10 - Contains frames 23A x2, 25 & 26, platform and rangefinder castings.

Stage 11 - Contains frames 27x2, 28 x2, 9m cutters x2 and oars x8.

Stage 12 - Contains frames 29 x2, 30 x2, platform, anti-aircraft gun & platform castings.

Stage 9 - Contains frames 22, 23 & 24, paravane platform, paravane's and winch, plus Tweezers.

Add frames 22, 23 & 24 to the hull framework.

Remove any burrs from the cast metal parts, then prime & paint all the parts grey.
Then install the paravanes and winch onto the platform as per the diagram locations.

That's it for Stage 9, carefully store the assembly.

Future stages:

Stage 10 - Contains frames 23A x2, 25 & 26, platform and rangefinder castings.

Stage 11 - Contains frames 27x2, 28 x2, cutter boat x2 and oars x8.

Stage 12 - Contains frames 29 x2, 30 x2, platform, anti-aircraft gun & platform castings.

Stage 13 - Contains bow plates x8, dowel and a B5N torpedo bomber kit.

Stage 10 - Contains frames 23A x2, 25 & 26, platform and rangefinder castings.

Add the two 23A frame halves onto the aft face of frame 23, ensure that the top edge of the 23A parts align with the top and inside edges of frame 23, and clamp into place.

Then add frames 25 & 26 to the keel, ensure that both are set at 90 degrees to the keel frame.

Remove any burrs from the cast metal parts, I chose to assemble the three range finder parts, then primed & painted all the metal parts including the platform; and when dry, highlighted the rangefinder viewer projections with a touch of matt white paint.

That's it for Stage 10, carefully store the parts.

Future stages:

Stage 11 - Contains frames 27x2, 28 x2, cutter boat x2 and oars x8.

Stage 12 - Contains frames 29 x2, 30 x2, platform, anti-aircraft gun & platform castings.

Stage 13 - Contains bow plates x8, dowel and a B5N torpedo bomber kit.

Stage 14 - Contains bow plates x8, platform, anti-aircraft gun x3 and platform castings.

Stage 11 - Contains frames 27x2, 28 x2, cutter boat x2 and oars x8.

Start by adding frame 27 at the bow, position it in the gap between the bottom plate and frames 9-12. It should be in line with the outer edge of the bottom plate at the base of frame 9 and protrude by around 2mm at the base of frame 12, you may need to file this part to achieve a good fit.
Repeat the process on the opposite side of the hull.

In a similar way, now attach one of the two frame 28 parts to the hull, again fitted between the base plate and frames, and run's back from frame 12 - 17.
Repeat on the opposite side of the hull.

Using a fine file, remove any burrs from the two boats and oars, then prime the parts.
The exterior of the boats is grey, and the interior & oars an off white ivory colour.
When the paint is dry, glue the oars into place within the boats.

Future stages:

Stage 12 - Contains frames 29 x2, 30 x2, platform, anti-aircraft gun & platform castings.

Stage 13 - Contains bow plates x8, dowel and a B5N torpedo bomber kit.

Stage 14 - Contains bow plates x8, platform, anti-aircraft gun x3 and platform castings.

Stage 15 - Contains stern plates x9, dowel, a boat and railings.

Stage 12 - Contains frames 29 x2, 30 x2, platform, anti-aircraft gun & platform castings.

Carefully identify the correct orientation of the #29 parts, and take notice of which end the notch should be, in effect the printed number 29 on both parts should face frame 17, (both #29 parts are numbered at the wrong end).

Test fit both #29 parts, and when happy glue them into place.

Then add the two #30 parts at the stern, for a good fit, you may need to sand these parts.

Remove any burrs from the cast metal parts, I then added the rangefinder and guns to the platform, and primed/painted the assembly, then highlighted the gun barrel tips black, and the range finder lenses silver.

Carefully store the assembled framework and platform.

Future stages:

Stage 13 - Contains bow plates x8, dowel and a B5N torpedo bomber kit.

Stage 14 - Contains bow plates x8, platform, anti-aircraft gun x3 and platform castings.

Stage 15 - Contains stern plates x9, dowel boat and railings.

Stage 16 - Contains short planks x8, long planks x6 and a D3A dive bomber kit.
