Hi Everyone
Hoping someone may have the same issue and managed to fix it?
my startup R2 jerks and head rotates one way! motor is still trying to force the head round, ive gone through the procedure of disconnecting and checking all pins plugs and reconnected, ive re tested the rotary sensors with the supplied test board and both are ok. left and right sensors re-checked for being on left and right side, ive also held the head off and checked using a separate object between the sensors but motor continually runs one way.

has anybody else had this issue? and managed to resolve it?

hi dandare,

Yes, I'm having this same issue, amongst others. I only had a spare half an hour to play this evening before work, so I haven't had a chance to really get stuck in yet.

Tomorrow, I plan to take the whole thing apart (well, back to where I start connecting everything up, that is) and follow the advice I saw on another thread, which was to use a non-metallic pointy thing, such as a wooden toothpick, to make sure the wires are fully inserted into the connectors after I have connected them to the circuit boards.

I did manage to get it connected to the app, though, and the speaker works, but he makes the same sound (I assume an error chirp) every time I try and do anything involving movement, such as the lightsaber or moving the dome. The soundbytes play when I try to play the holograms, but the images don't show.

Check to see if the sensors are sitting right on the frame. Also check the dome is seated right in the cog. The metal lug on the bottom frame of the dome has to pass through the sensor, if the dome is not quite seated right the sensor won’t pick it up properly as the lug passes through.
Maybe turn the dome shaft 180 degrees, then fit the dome back in place, it just might sit better. Also check the sensor cables are fully home in the sockets pushing the pins down firmly.

So, I took mine apart and reconnected everything, but, just on a hunch, I decided to check I had the head sensors plugged in the right way round, which might explain why it's not stopping - expecting a signal from the left sensor, but getting one on the right, and vice versa.
I hadn't.
I reconnected them correctly, and lo and behold, that issue was sorted.
I still have many others, though...

Hi

Glad you got the head sorted. A lot of the time it will be wrong placed leads or cables not sitting right.

The best way is as you did with the head sensors, methodically check all around and check for bent pins. If you are still having other issues after you carried out more checks, then let me know.

Cheers
Mark
