I wouldn't mind if it was after a long period of time, but it's after a few seconds he moves head from side then side then goes on a crashing spree.disappointed with this build to be honest.

The voice switch is in App features, setting and there you will see you can turn on and off the voice setting. There has been 3 app updates since its release, you may want to check you have the up to date version. Regards Mark

I was able to switch off the voice recognition on the Apple via the app settings, this has worked great stopping him wandering off on his own.

Just want to add similar experience to this. Mine does the same. You leave him alone and he suddenly wanders off and crashes into things (mine broke his arm in the process). Turning off voice control does stop this but that’s pretty poor if we can’t use voice control! Additionally, voice control doesn’t work properly for me anyway. I have to practically shout into the microphone and then if he does respond it’s only after a 5 - 10 second delay. My feeling is that voice control is definitely faulty and probably responsible for many of the problems reported on this forum.

See the “Voice Commands” developer notes in post #3 of this topic https://forum.model-spac...spx?g=posts&t=30247 On reading post three of the topic that you point to it is stated that this is an issue with the voice recognition side of the unit but does not really offer any fixes other than drilling holes in the completed unit! Also that this fault is actually what is described as having his own personality! This was a feature that is being sold as state of the art advanced AI! When as soon as we stop the fault happening by switching of the voice commands there really is no advanced AI or voice control. Could we not just get a fix to the problem? A bare minimum would be a fix involving the sensors to be activated whilst using voice commands. I don't mind him running off on his own at all if only his sensors were working when he did it as when he does do it he is not really running under any control of the user only under the control of a fault.

See the “Voice Commands” developer notes in post #3 of this topic https://forum.model-spac...spx?g=posts&t=30247 Thanks for the tip, and I would drill holes if I was convinced this would definitely work. However I am sceptical because: 1. I have tried this in a quiet room. I said the word ‘Arms’ clearly and at normal speaking volume at various distances and angles and he only responded when I was within about 30cm from the microphone. 2. I tried completely blocking the microphone with my thumb and he still responded to the command from the same distance away. So I’d do this if we had more definitive proof that this was working consistently but I don’t want to damage him if it doesn’t work. If widening the hole would give the audio reception a longer range then me covering the hole should give it a shorter range right? Except it doesn’t make any difference.

Have you tried replacing the issue 18 Microphone (which also includes the cover in the same parts set)., This would also give the option to widen the hole in cover of the one you have and at the same time have a spare in the replacement issue 18.

Hey everyone,
I just finished up my droid yesterday and ran into this same issue. Actually, he ran into me.
I was trying to get the wi-fi setup, but apparently it was taking too long. R2 just started rolling and crashed into my legs and kept right on going. There was no stopping him without the power switch. My phone wasn't even paired yet, so I wasn't in manual mode or anything.
This is definitely a major programming flaw. No matter what mode the droid is in, if it starts to move on its own, the sensors should function. If a person isn't directly controlling the movement, they are not aware of the obstacles or ledges. There will be a lot of broken R2-D2s out there if this isn't fixed.
